Mindy

"Look Mommy, it's a pony like yours!" Madrian pointed to the picture of the little girl on her black horse in the storybook we were reading before nap time. "It sure is, but see how the little girl looks more like you!" I said. "Oh yesss," Madrian murmered.
We finished reading the story, and I tucked Madrian into her "Big Girls Bed" and closed the curtains to dim the room. "Sweet dreams angel," I sighed and shut the door. Two down, one to go I thought to myself. I plopped myself into the soft couch and embraced the quiet. Sean was at summer camp, the little ones, napping, Mack at work, Mindy well she's taking a power nap. I laughed at my mental play by play.

A loud wailing Danny, jolted me back into touch with the rest of the world though. I heaved myself up and went up the stairs and into his bedroom where he stood diaperless, but VERY dirty in his crib. "Shit," I whispered.
"Okay, big boy to the tub!" i said as brightly as I could and we went to get a bath. It seemed like there were only seconds that passed between that and when Madrian was awake. Helping me, as best she coud, with her squirming little brother. "Why'd he play in his poo Mommy?" Madrian wanted to know. I laughed inspite of myself and Danny did too. "I think he just got bored Madrian." "That's dumb, he should just play with his toys," she said smartly. "Madrian, why don't you take him to the playroom while I clean the rest of it up?" I asked. "Okay Mommy," She nodded. "Come on Danny, let's play with Barney!" She said. Danny babbled some incoherent words and unsteadily followed his big sis to the playroom.

When Mack came home with Sean I was half exhausted and half relieved to have my oldest son distract my little ones. And to have Mack, help distract me.
"Go check on Harly, see how his leg is doing," Mack soothed. "Are you sure?" I asked. "Quite, now go," He kissed me. I smiled and drove out to Evergreen.
Harly was snoozing in some broken rays of sunshine when I arrived at his stall. "Hey lazy boy," I greeated him. "Hey fatty," he nickered. I touched my gigantic belly tenderly. "I am NOT a fatty," I said slightly hurt. "I know, just giving you a hard time," Harly snorted. I rolled my eyes and led him out of his stall.
"You know, your leg is looking a ton better," I smiled and patted his shoulder. "It's getting there, but it's still sore." He nickered. "Well, maybe some turn out will help." I smiled and led him to a shady paddock with another horse who greeed him. "Have fun, behave," were my words.
I found a pitchfork and a bucket and began to clean.
"Mindy, what on earth are you doing!" Scarlet scolded me. "I need to be productive around here, if I can't ride, I will muck!" I defended. She giggled.."My thoughts exactly," I smiled back at her. "The problem with being pregnant" I began, "is that it is one wonderful miracle that conflicts with another amazing passion." I sighed. "You're right about that...I'm going stir crazy not being able to ride!" I patted my five month old but indeed very large stomach fondly. "I know what you mean, but I think these two will be my last," I smiled. Then i had a very great idea.
"Scarlet, you should come over to Mack and my house for dinner sometime this week," "OK!" She replied excitedly. "Well just pick date and call us!" "Lovely!' Scarlet the peered down at her watch, and sighed. "I better skedaddle, kyle will be up in a few minutes!" I waved to her and continued mucking.
