Hi Guys,

newbie here but have loved Will Hay and his films for years since watching them with my Dad.

He drummed it in to me that there were 3 all-time classics, Oh, Mr Porter!, Ask a Policeman and Where's that Fire so I've always had a special fondness for those 3 movies in particular.

Recently I've been having the odd cheeky B&W movie night with the missus and introduced her to the Will Hay films (Policeman first, then Porter) which she loved. Anyways... could I get Where's that Fire anywhere?? Nope... I was shocked to see that this absolute classic has been lost and was unavailable anywhere online...

Then recently I remembered I'd recorded it on VHS when it was shown on TV years back and tracked the tape down at my parents house... Bingo...

Having recently grabbed a DVD recorder (Mechanisation!) I set about tackling copying it across to DVD this weekend and it's come out great!

Sat down with a glass (or two) of wine to watch it last night and it was like seeing an old friend again, really really fabulous... To my amazement, the VHS recorder had time-stamped the tape... and I recorded it off Channel 4 way back in 1993!!

I really do think that those 3 films in particular have a special connection, I know there's a 4th where Harbottle and Albert appear if you count 'Old Bones of the River' but I've never seen that so cannot comment. However, I've ordered it online and am waiting for it to arrive... Sadly, from my research, I don't think WTF is on the forthcoming 19 DVD package either which is absolutely CRIMINAL. But at least it's not forgotten here... Maybe someday soon it'll get released.

I'm probably gonna watch Convict 99 this week, which also I don't remember watching before - according to reviews here, I'm in for a treat!

Someone's selling copies here:

My VHS copy was from the last UK screening by C4 on 21/09/1993 and it's in cracking condition thankfully. Dunno if this copy is from the same date, but could be worth a look...

nice to hear from another will hay fan.welcome.
a lot of people have been complaining about the film not being on vhs or dvd, myself included.luckily thanks to e-bay the 19 film set on dvd includes the film(without ad breaks).
i agree that 'porter',policeman,'where's that fire' are the pick of hay/marriott and moffat films with perhaps 'good morning boys' in close contention.
anyway many hours of happy viewing.
