I know this is not exactly about Will Hay and company but I am a big fan of the All Gas and Gaiters TV show . Unfortunately only 13 episodes of the TV show survive ( I have them on DVD ), so I was very pleased to find 30 odd shows that were made for radio . The cast is the same for the first 6 shows and then another actor took the Derek Nimmo role for the others as he was not available , but the other cast members remained the same . It is a joy to hear Robertson Hare doing his archdeacon role with such aplomb and the others are great too . The scripts are much the same as the TV ones with some changes to make sense on radio .
The are some similarities to the Will Hay team with Nimmo being a sort of Graham Moffat type , Robertson Hare a sort of Moore Marriot and Mervyn Johns being the , ( slightly more competent ), Will Hay character .
Oddly enough I got the radio shows from ebay via a US seller and he included 50 or so Hancocks Half Hour and 50 or so Goon shows for free to fill up the disc ! All for about US$10 including postage .
Why are not more classic British comedies available available from the UK ? Where are shows like Just a minute and My Word on MP3 ?
