Severely Dry Eyes

My eyes have been sooo dry and red in the last month (middle of month 3 to 4)I use the nighttime eye ointment at night and tear drops during the day and lately it has not been enough. I started using the ointment when I get up too and it sort of helps. My derm took a 3 sec look at my eyes and recommended I see an eye doctor. I think before I go see another specialist I might ask the people on this board for ideas. I know for sure its dryness but mabye im not using the right things. I also drink at least 8-10 cups of water a day.

By the way do most peoples derms come in for ony like 15 second? When I am lucky I see an assistant who acutally talks to me but if I see the Dr. himself its very very brief. I was thinking of changing doctors after treatment.
