Well, the doctor told me to take 1 40mg tablet 2 times a day (so 80mg's total)...(5 months)
It's interesting because, I got some of the major side effects close to the end of my treatment..the rash on the arm only developed roughly 3 or 4 weeks before the end...my skin got "dusty" only in some places (on the side of my face near right where the sideburns would be) but that too was near the end of the treatment...the dry lips..well, I always had those but they really got bad near the end as well...no bloody nose (the flowing kind but I did have blood in my nose when I'd blow it, but that was very rare).
I'm not sure if the side effects and how Accutane works has a correlation but, you never know, it could. My cholestorol was a bit high but it was nothing that worried the derm because it stayed at the same level after each blood test...
I'll be visiting the derm sometime in the middle of February (2 months after the treatment ended) and we're going to plan another course of action..I'll probably have to get the cysts drained and then in March start another round of it if the derm feels that it will work..my skin still pretty much looks the same but, after roughly 1 full month off of it, I don't have that much oil which is good. But, I did breakout once with a nasty cyst right smack on my beltline..believe me that was the most painful week of my life..
Well, if I have to take a second round, I hope that it works. By the way, I do have an extremely fast metabolism.
