My daughter also started to develop acne extremely early, by the time she was 8 she was on three lotions and antibiotics. It was really hard on her because although the acne was under control her skin was so oily she was always embarrassed by it. her derm made her wait until she was 13 to try accutane but it was worth it. She is now 8 months post accutane and her skin is beatiful, no oil no scars just beautiful skin. She has had people comment to her about how lucky she is that she has never had to struggle with acne (how soon they forget). She just smiles and thinks inside "you have no idea".
She had the normal side affects and she did struggle a little with depression in the beginning but it got easier as time went on. Her derm kept her on 80 mg's for 8 month's total which was a LONG time but it was worth it. He thinks she will need a second round eventually because she was so young but she'll gladly do it again.
