You know your body better than anyone. If you feel the side effects are taking too great a toll than stop taking the meds. I was scheduled for a five month course. I ended up with kidney stones at 4 1/2 months. I stopped taking the accutane because of all the other meds I was suddenly taking. It has worked fine. I have had no acne since about my second month on accutane.

I'm not sure how a doctor knows before he see's how you react to accutane the length of your exposure. Since everyone reacts differently how do they know before you start how long you should be on it?
