Welcome to the world of accutane. It's not easy. The first three months are hell. I never really got an initial break out, but if I did, it came about two or three weeks into my treatment. For me, my acne was pretty bad for the first three months and then something of a miracle happened. I'd wake up and there wouldn't any new bumps. And remember this while you're taking accutane: every new zit you get from this point forward is the last zit that pore on your face will produce. It's three months. You can do it. The side effects suck but you learn to live with it. I'm three years post accutane, and I consider going on the drug one of the best things I've ever done. My only regret is that I waited so long to take the drug.
The dryness sucks but it beats being oily..or that's what I would tell myself. Moisturize the best you can and talk to your doc. Your skin will adjust some with time as well. Hang in there. Remember, a year from now the difference will be night and day. |
