I set up this Forum just over a month ago and since then I am pleased to note that several people visit the Forum every day. As yet, however, very few of you have posted any of your own messages. So, please give it a try. Unless you do start posting messages, the site will die.

It is easy to post massages -
- If you are reading someone else's message and want to make a comment, just click on 'respond to this message' and follow the instructions
- If you want to post a new message, return to index and click on 'Post new message'

When you get to the screen to type in your message, don't be put off by the statement that you are not logged on. We are currently using Network54 to host our forum and that is merely stating the fact that you are not logged on to this network. But, rest assured, you do not have to be logged on to post a message.

What could be easier? So, we are all looking forward to reading your interesting views, comments, suggestions, etc. Give it a try!

David

Enjoy your site

October 21 2002, 7:12 PM

Greetings from Canada,

Well, the farm has closed for the season and I have retreated to the indoors along with my rosemaries. I enjoy visiting websites of the herbal kind and have my bookmarks set on this one! Now is the season for catching up!

I read your message and thought I would take you up on the offer to hear from one of your website surfers and introduce myself.

My name is Janette Oliver-Rodgers and along with my family, we operate the Emily Creek Herb Farm, in osprey country surrounded by many lakes that make up the Kawartha region of southern Ontario. We are a tourist oriented operation offering potted organic herbs, a rural herb garden for strolling and educational tours and workshops. We also host an annual festival which has drawn thousands of curious visitors. http://www.EmilyCreek.ca

Perhaps, some of your vistors will enjoy a virtual tour of our farm and festival and get a little inspiration too as I have from your site. Life is Herbalicious, so eat it up...we say.

Regards,
Janette

May 28 2004, 6:24 PM

Having just been given a copy of the Nov.03 Herbal Magazine, I am very keen to see if there are any other enthusiastic'herby'people in Shropshire.
I grow quite a few herbs and would love to trade or visit with like minded folk. Please contact me on my e-mail address.
Really enjoyed reading the magazine, and have asked that a subscription be my Christmas present for Dec.04!
Congratulations.

Global Warming

May 30 2004, 4:10 PM

Over the past few days, I've been wondering about the potential effects of global warmin on our herb gardens. Will we have to start cultivating plants that can cope with extreme heat and drought. I know that herbs like Rosemary cope better in these conditions, but not all are plants are originally from the Mediterranean! The scorching weather and its effects on some new plants brought this to mind.

Hot Weather Plants

June 11 2004, 9:50 AM

Hi Janet

You'd be amazed at how well so-called cool weather plants can adapt. When we came to live here I had to learn a new way of gardening as the climate is continental - very cold winters and hot summers. Things like parsley, summer savoury and chives love the heat and I've noticed no difference in harvest. Basil, on the other hand, loves it and grows well outside, as do my chillies - something I'll miss when I come home.

It's more your gardening methods that will change, not so much the plants, as with careful positioning and watering, you would still be able to grow most of what you do now.

Mandy
