Fly Deterant

I read in an article that to deter flies entering the house you should grow Rosemary or possibly lavender near the door. Can anyone tell me if this is correct and if so which one, or any other herb?

Tansy and pennyroyal are always the ones which spring to mind when talking about dettering insects. You might want to try wormwood too.
