Spring Herb Workshop in the Cotswolds

from IP address 194.221.40.3

On 22 March from 11am to 3pm, I shall be holding the first herb workshop at Springfield Sanctuary.

The day will be a very practical one involving a burdock hunt (how many plants can you find within the Sanctuary grounds?)making bramble root vinegar (one of the best cures for an upset tummy, but you have to dig up the roots first!)and tasting some nettle tea.

There are lots of vervain, motherwort, feverfew and goats rue plants which need new homes, so bring containers with you if you'd like some plants.

We shall talk about tonics, layering, root cuttings, sewing seeds and lots of other things. There will also be St John's wort, echinacea and many other plants to identify in their first Spring colours.

If you would like to come, please bring with you some clean glass jars with screwtop lids, some cider vinegar and some red wine if you'd like to make a nettle/apricot tonic. You will also need warm clothes in layers, wet weather gear, wellingtons or stout boots (anything with heels are not advisable, you may get stuck down a mole hill or rabbit hole!) If you are frightened of spiders, please bring a friend.

Bring a packed lunch, a gardening fork, secuteurs and gardening gloves if you have them.

The workshops are free, but donations are welcome to help with the upkeep of the Sanctuary.

Please email me as soon as possible if you would like to attend, letting me know where you are coming from and I will send directions. The closing date for the workshop is Wednesday 19 March.
