Hello Everyone
Over the past few weeks the forum has been plagued with posts from sources that spam sites with 'those' kind of links to things that will help improve the love life. As life is busy for all of us we, I don't want to have to keep removing these posts, trying to find out where they came from and emailing ISP's complaining that there clients are spamming a site uninvited. Most of them are in the USSR, but some are from Europe to, and its hard to stop them doing what they do when the forum is public access, public post.
So with reluctance the Herb Society forum has now been made 'post approved' you can post all you wish, but it will not appear until approved by a moderator, this way we can make sure we don't get messages disguised as posts on herb identification requests which have a link to weird photos.
To explain, the last one asked members of the forum "Can you please identify this herb?", when I clicked on the link to see the photo that was supposed to be there, lets say I was rather surprised at the herb I was being asked to identify. If anybody else fell for it to I can only apologise and can assure them it won't happen again. As myself and the moderators check the forum often throughout the day it will mean that your post will be delayed for only a short time.
The general public can still post, but once again it will be pending and not viewable by others until its been approved. The council would like to apologise for any inconvienience, but hope you will understand that we thought it better to do this, than make it a read only forum. I'm working on a way to be able to filter out the things we don't want, but the forum software is limited.
