Debs is not very well - any suggestions?

Poor Debs has been suffering from food poisoning and is not very well.

Does anyone have any herbal suggestions which might help her to feel better? I've suggested small sips of peppermint or chamomile tea when she feels able to.

What do other favour when this happens or the round virus strikes?

I know everyone will join me in sending their love and good wishes for a speedy recovery to Debs.

Sarah

Poor Debs

March 13 2008, 12:10 AM

Hello Sarah,

Very sorry to hear about poor Debs. That is really miserable, does seem to be a fair old bit of it about at the moment. I think that Manuka Honey may help. I use it for all sorts of things. It is a good food and easily digestible by an invalid. Either a spoonful neat or if you wish, in a herbal tea, but don't put it into really hot tea as it loses much of the beneficial elements if heated. Very pure as there is less polution in New Zealand.
Hope this is helpful, take care, Jane

Thank you all for your good wishes, I am all better now, it was the wose case of upset stomach that I've ever experienced but all is fine now, took me a couple of days to get back to normal as it kept me awake alot and I lost a lot of sleep.
I did try Sarah's chamomile and peppermint tea idea and thanks to a suggestion from Linda, I also found that finger tea was helpful, I added some lemon to it as well and that was wonderful for the sickness and for getting killing of the nasties that were in residence in my stomach.

I'm very behind with this months schedule for HS uploads, but will try to get everything done before the end of the month, although I fear that the 'In the herb garden' feature will be delayed as I haven't been able to do it yet. Thanks again for the kind thoughts

Just to add that after Sarah's suggestion to take some chamomile and peppermint teas when I was ill recently, it sent me off looking for a book I bought a while back by Anne McIntyre "Healing Drinks: Juices, Teas, Soups & Smoothies".

I'd forgotten all about it, but now rediscovered I've been trying the recipes ever since, my current favourite is kashmir spicy tea, and we had the chinese chicken and corn soup for lunch on Saturday, that went down well and will be made often from now on. I've added the book to the bookshelf page with an Amazon listing, there are a few second hand copies, so grab a bargain if you don't already have this one, I can highly recommend it

Debs
