Medieval Herbal Workshop

Just got back from Winchester, from christina's workshop. It was extremely good. She had on display a number of different herbs used in medieval times, including medical, dying and craft purposes. Dispite the steady number of enquiring public, I managed to have a chat with her. Gosh what a knowledgable lady !! She was telling me that she is currently engaged in writing a book on the history of all herbal useage since the dawn of time..... But as she said " if i should live that long, to complete it." She was happy to have her picture taken fot the (HS) website.

We then walked around Queen Eleanor's garden which is laid out in the style of a 13th century garden. There were more plants on display than I would expect at this tme of year. It had a soothing atmosphere.

The best bit being Douglas buying me 3 of Tina's books !!

Hi Linda

Great photos! Told you that you'd enjoy it didn't I? Glad you got a chance to chat to Tina, she's really lovely and like you said very knowledgeable and her talks are so interesting I've been trying to get hold of a copy of her 'Herb Sufficient' book for a while, looks like I should try and order direct from her website, although I could try and wait until the conference and hope Tina brings some with her. If anybody isn't familiar with Tina and her books and wants to find out more visit her website http://www.heartsease-herb-books.com

We visited Queen Eleanor's Garden a couple of years ago round about the same time of year as you Linda, there's a review and more pictures on my Herbal Haven website (http://www.herbal-haven.co.uk), if you want to read it, click on the Gardens link and its under the Herb Garden's To Visit section. Thanks for sharing the piccies.

Debs
