Nice interview/article with Julie Bruton-Seal in the Telegraph on making your own hedgerow medicines http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/main.jhtml?xml=/health/2008/06/23/hhedge123.xml, which shows how easy it is to make your own remedies. Julie gives examples for treating hayfever using elderflowers:-

"Hayfever threatens to obliterate my enthusiasm for wildlife, so we get down to our real mission: gathering the blooming elder flowers, "a potent antihistamine" when combined with plantain, and a flu remedy when taken with dog rose petals."

I've said it before, I really do recommend Julie's book, theres loads of recipes for things to make from the hedgerow, all very easy and from things you'd find locally for most of us. Has anybody else been making herbal goodies from the hedgerow?
