Hi Debs,
I`ve just had a look at your blog and i wanted to say how wonderful your pictures are. Was going to comment on the blog itself and then couldn`t remember how to do it,but then thought that other people should have a nudge to get them to look at it as i`m sure it would interest them. You have captured summer. i`ve made some rose vinegar using apothecaries rose ,also preserved some as per my recipe in CK,ie layer petals with sugar to the top of the jar and then fill with white vinegar. They are lovely additions to salads throughout the year and the vinegar and sugar produce a great salad dressing.

Go on everyone, have a look at the blog, the pictures are just so beautiful.

Thanks Linda

Must say the lavender vinegar in the picture on my blog is now an incredible lavender colour and even though its only a few days old it smells wonderful! http://herbal-haven.co.uk/blog/ for those who don't already have the link. I'm not the only one to be blogging, Sarah Head and Madeleine Giddens also do wonderfully informative and fun blogs well worth checking out, you can get to their blogs and a couple of other UK herb blogs via the links on my blog page.

I'll try and get to town to pick up a copy of the latest issue of Country Kitchen to see your latest article, can you remind us which issue it is?

I agree, the photos are stunning - you have such beautiful jars to make things in! (I enjoy the blog content too!)

Thanks Sarah, I really must take another photo of the lavender vinegar so people can see the pretty colour it goes when you use Hidcote lavender! Most of the jars in the photo on my blog are recycled coffee jars, will let you know the brand by email if you're interested, same for anyone else if you email me. They make excellent storage jars for dry herbs as well, the labels come off really easy and there is no 'brand name' on the jar lids when you've removed the label. They come in two sizes as well, perfect for large and small amounts. I've also used an old pasta jar for the lavender vinegar, think I got it for 10p from a car boot sale.

I'm about to recycle some porteguese rose wine bottles to put the finished lavender and rose vinegars in ready for giving as homemade gifts this Xmas. I also recycle things that people give gifts in, we've been given glass jars of toffees etc as presents and I save the jar. The 'vase' with the posy in, is in actual fact a drinking glass from a gift set we were given at Xmas, a bottle of something and two glasses, they work wonders as posy vases
