On the website www.ukbookworld.com, if in the subject box you insert "herbals" up comes 45 pages listing,at last count 896 books. All books are secondhand, some are recent, others Victorian and early twentieth century, plus some old leatherbound Herbals at the price you would expect to pay for old leatherbound Herbals!

Thanks for the link Kevin There are some gems on that site, although I'm sure I can't afford the ones I want, some of the more recent ones can be picked up cheaper on Amazon and Ebay though I feel. Although I've seen a few that I may just have to get to add to the collection.

Hello Kevin,
What an excellent site, not only for herbs books, but gardening in general and local history which is one of my other passions.

Website for secondhand herb books

Hi Debs and Jane,

Glad you like the website.I have not done any comparative pricing yet.Amazon is generally where I look first.

jane if you are interested in local history take a look at www.historicaldirectories.org. It is a project by Leicester University to put online old directories for the period 1750 to 1919. Mostly old Kelly's County Directories. These are much more than commercial directories and contain a great deal of material of historical interest.I have been looking at them to trace adverisements inserted by old herbalists and herbal medicine manufacturers. So far I have only struck lucky with Nottingham.
