Alternative to kava?

Hello,

I recently acquired an American book on complementary herb use for fibromyalgia. It mentions the use of Kava Kava to deepen sleep.

Unfortunately, I since discovered that the UK government prohibited sale and import of Kava Kava in 2002.

Since fibromyalgia sufferers lack stage 4 sleep (slow wave or REM sleep) that enables the body to self-repair while sleeping, something Kava Kava may induce.

Does anyone know of a legal herb that does the same or similar in terms of sedative action as Kava Kava?

Thanks,

John
