Books for library (or what ever)

Hello Debs,

This is one for your librarian hat. I am in the process of closing down my small business and have a number of herb related books going spare. I wondered if they would be of any use for either the library or for sale at events etc. No charge of course I just want them to find a good home (before they breed, books seem to be able to do that, at least in this house)

Hooray. Spring has sprung at last!

Jane

Hi Jane,
That is a very generous offer and I am sure that Debs will snatch your hand off. However her computer is sick at the moment and she won't have seen your post yet. If she isn't back in the techno world by tomorrow, I will give her a ring.Being nosey, what is your business--it woulld seem as if it is possibly herbal in nature ?
Kind regards
Linda

Books for library (or what ever)

April 7 2010, 10:34 PM

Hello Linda,

Sorry about Debs fiendish machine. I'm still slightly scared of this one.

Together with my husband I sold Manuka Honey, Neem products, aromatherapy 'stuff' and herbal bodycare (not made by myself I might add, if I had being doing this 20 yrs ago perhaps). Started by selling surplus herb plants at village do's then my husband did a web site and we went from there. He died last year and I'm finding it too much on my own so I'm retiring to grow more herbs, smell the roses and hopefully spend more time with my paints and pastels. Unfortunately I don't drive or I wouild have been at your group meetings. Still find lots to do, that's village life. Don't know where these sunday suppliments get the idea that country life is so relaxing!! I've never found it so, enjoyable yes, relaxing NO.

Hi Jane happy.gif

Thanks for covering for me Linda happy.gif It's the internet connection that's been poorly and its still playing up looks like we have to have a new dongle box but the engineer can't come until next Wednesday so I may be in and out of communication until then. Still at least I'm getting out into the garden and getting things done happy.gif

Jane I'd be more than happy to take up your kind offer of your herb books, many thanks, if there are any duplicates then I'll put them in with the books that will eventually be sold at an event to raise funds for the Society.  I'm contemplating the idea of having a members borrowing service for some books that are not so easy to obtain these days, I must stress this would be for any duplicate books we get and not the current catalogue. Members would have to pay the postage. The finer details aren't worked out yet, and of course I need the rest of council to approve the plan but it would be nice.

We've now got a laptop, printer and scanner for the library so I can begin archiving documents for the electronic archive, so many plans.... We've had a couple of donations of books recently, which I'll take a look at on my next trip to Sulgrave, there will be some news about the HS library in the next issue of Herbal Delights our electronic newsletter, so if you're not already signed up to receive it, then please get in touch, HS members only.

Debs
