Hi Mona-Lisa

Are you wanting to grind aerial parts of herbs or roots? Are you using fresh or dried? Are you wanting them for electuaries, suppositories, honey pills, other types of pills or something else?

I have a modern domestic grinder which has two actions, one for grinding dried spices, roots etc and another which pulses/chops fresh herbs including stems.

If you are intending to grind dried roots, you may need to invest in a commercial grinder. Jim Macdonald has successfully purchased such grinders from ebay and you may want to contact him to discuss this further. You can find his details on our links section.

I hope others will have some suggestions for you

Sarah

Hi!
Thank you for you answere! happy.gif I'm planning on grinding a herb bouquet, dried whole plants, even roots into very small pieces that still keep the plants character. It is Chamomile, Dandelion, Clivers, Burdock, Nettle, Great Plantain, Meadowsweet, Rose Hip (berry), Yarrow and Red Clover. My intent is to keep it during winter and feed it to horses little by little. I have dried whole plants in papersacks and they smell lovely.

I understand mortel, food processor, coffe mill, as well as bigger mills for grain or even laboratories are used. I would be greatful for more detailed advices including specific type, trademarks or grain methods that are successful. Since it is for some horses the amount is substantial.

Kind regards
Mona-Lisa
