Anyone with recipes for Lemon Oil which can be used culinary/medicinaly. Also I have heard that Lemon oil is good as a furniture polish; any comments on this and would it be a similar recipe as the above?

Hi Eric

Can you tell us exactly what you mean by lemon oil?

Lemon juice is wonderful for bladder infections - changing the medium from acid to alkaline. The peel is a cool bitter, cooler than orange peel. I've made an "opal fruits" tincture with lemon, lime and orange and use lemon juice in cordials, syrups etc. I've never made a lemon oil.

I look forward to hearing from your research.

Hi Sarah, Thanks for the reply. I received a recipe from a friend for Lemon oil which basicaly recommended a quantity of lemon peel (Minus the zest) in vegetable oil at just below simmering point for 10 mins then leave to cool. The oil is then used for adding to dishes but there was also the comment that lemon oil can be used as a v effective polish. Trying the recipe consistently gave me "charred" peel which added a burnt odour as you could well imagine. Any comments?
PS Best of luck for the coming herbal weekend; can,t join you still have a few medic problems. (Had a few songs rehearsed as well).

Hi Eric

Sorry you can't join us for the weekend!

How did you heat the oil? If you're making an infused oil, you mustn't heat it directly. Either use a double boiler or a slow cooker. Hopefully that will remove the burned flavour.

Debs uses lemoon balm leaves directly onto wood as a polish.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes
