Lungwort/pulmonaria

I have just discovered your page and read an excellent explanation about the herb 'lungwort' or 'pulmonaria'. A friend had told me about the plant and I had only obtained it already dried from a local health shop. I have used the plant with great success to treat my chest infections since last year when my friend recommended this. I boil it up with plantain and thyme, plus a tablespoonfull of honey (my friend tells me the honey - even sugar - helps draw out the goodness in the herbs) in a litre of water. I drink the mixture throughout the day, and it works wonderfully. I have already passed it on to a few friends who have all found it works.
Now I know, thanks to your page, that I can obtain this plant quite easily instead of paying for an expensive bag of it.
Now, I shall look up 'shepherd's purse', another great herb.
Thank you.

If you are looking to work with shepherd's purse, it might be worth being aware that it doesn't work effectively in the dried form. You really need to process it fresh for the best results.

Glad you're finding positive results with lungwort. You might want to check out other chest herbs - especially sage, elecampane and mullein. It's also worth thinking whether your chest troubles are cold or hot and whether you need cooling herbs or ones which warm it up.

Best wishes

Sarah
