One game doesn't change everything, they need a string of them to get good. CR beat Victoria twice and richmond once. Abbotsford beat CR, and lost to Richmond. Their winning percentage is way below CR, BV and Sicamouses too. Please read my formula explanation if you have further questions.
Remember, not every team can be first. The only teams that has a right to complain that they're not first are Sicamous and Beaver Valley, because they are the only other 2 teams that are good enough to be first week in and week out.

Nick works pretty hard on these, and once the numbers are into the computer, who knows what can happen. There will ALWAYS be people unhappy with how things turn out every week, just see the college football rankings when they come out every week, it never fails that someone thinks one team gets ripped off. Nick (and I) came up with the idea to try and rank the teams, since alot of people would try to compare the 3 leagues, so he gave it a shot. Maybe if you don't like them, you can keep your negative comments to yourself, unless you come up with a better way, and put in the work, since these rankings are "garbage." That's very nice of you to say that, and I'm sure Nick appreciates it too.

I for one don,t always agree with the rankings. However I really appreciate the interaction it creates . This is fun and no other junior league that I know of goes to this length to provide a forum for people to share ideas. So continue the good work and try not to be so sensitive to some critics. I think the individual who expressed the thought that the rankings were garbage, really meant to say they were dissatisfied with the rankings because their favorite team was not rated higher. I am sure they would miss this forum just as much as the rest of us if volunteers like yourselves were to discontinue donating your time. So continue on with all encouragement, this is great fun for sports fans of junior b hockey.

How do the standings/ratings have Comox ahead of Victoria, they split 2 wins and a tie in the season, 27 goals for Vic, 24 for Comox, and as the league stnads right now Victoria has two games in hand and is only 3 points behind Comox, weird!

Victoria and Comox have been constantly back and forth in the points totals. Sometimes Victoria is ahead of Comox in the league standings and sometimes vice versa.
As for people who don't always agree with the rankings. I agree, as a diehard Storm fan, I would like them to be first all the time! But, this is the first year of the rankings, and of course, there will be some flaws. That said, I cannot change the formula mid season to have it suit one team or another. It is unbiassed and right now my only jobs regarding the rankings are to enter in the scores and post them here every monday. I can try and explain why Team A is where they are and why they aren't better than Team B, but some people can't except that.
I am open to comments regarding the rankings, both good and bad. But, any changes to the formula and the spreadsheet can't happen UNTIL NEXT SEASON. That way the rankings are consistent within the year.
If anyone would like a copy of the spreadsheet emailed to them so they can see for themselves how it works, please email me at njordan3000@shaw.ca and I'll send them a copy with a brief explanation how it works. There are macros in it to make my job easier, so your email program might not like it, but I can send you a copy without macros if you like.
Thanks, Nick

Hey Nick
Thanks for all the hard work you do to bring us the rankings....you'll always get those that complain, but you'll also get us that appriate all the hard work you do. I too am a diehard STORM fan.

I didn't put out these rankings for everyone to agree with them, the fact is that 27 teams won't be #1. I don't really care if everyone says they're crap, as long as it insites discussion. 95% of the feedback I've gotten is positive and I thank everyone for that. Like I said before, any comments are appreciated, but if someone says "the rankings are garbage" I can't really use that to improve them.

Here is a preview of the new week's standings. It seems that big wins affect the rankings more in the week after the win, Note Abbotsford's improvement.
Rank LW Team Ranking

2 2 Sicamous -2.1
3 1 Campbell River -0.2
4 5 Delta 0.6 (beat Abbey last night 6-5)
5 4 Beaver Valley 1.7
6 6 Comox 5.7
