There is no "keep" persay in weight pull. We work our dogs at the same weight that they pull at. If we had a keep, most dogs (like body builders) would have ripped muscles but no strength. On our yard the dogs have a couple of days off from training before a competition.
THE GUY FROM CAJUN COUNTRY USES A KEEP. HE SAID SIX WEEKS BEFORE A SHOW.
SO HOW DOES THAT WORK WHEN SHOWS ARE A MONTH APART. I PULL MY DOGS 2 TO 3 TIMES A MONTH SOMETHIMES SO THEY MUST STAY IN GOOD SHAPE.

I find what works for my dogs is drag weight heavy one day, and go a half a mile. Then the next day go light and pull a mile. For Hemi a light day is 100lbs, heavy is 150. He weighs 107. Then pull on track atleast twice a week. One day he pulls until it gets to where he is struggling, but can still pull it. The other day he pulls about 2000lbs over and over again.
