any one ever had a nursing female that one of her teats got kinda hard. like hard tissue or a knot? just curious. my females is and im getting her into the vet day after tomorrow. just wondering if anyone has experienced something like this before. milk looks good, and flows good. cant figure it out

i havent personally but it sounds like masititus (sp?) i would get her in tomorrow to the vet good luck.

It is definitely mastitis(bacterial infection)if not treated immediately it may become infected,rot the tissue and mamory glands and they will have to remove the glands and dead tissue...if that area turns purple or blue you need to take action right then...your vet is bound to be able to work you in...if not give her a 3cc injection of penicillin two times a day and two 500 mg pills of amoxicillin...I always keep a supply of medictaion on hand...in my 25 years + of raising dogs I have just about experienced everything under the sun you can imagine...you need to start her today and guess what else...if you let it go on that infection will get in the milk if not already and definitely affect those pups...take action right now and go somewhere,after it turns purple it's too late!

we lost a female to this same thing and an entire litter of pups get her to the vet as soon as you can just in case it is further along in the progression that you think
