I wanted to show off my male Duke at 7 months. He truly a wonderful family pet! He is a direct son of Camelot's Chief, crossed with a McKenna female. He about 73 lbs right now, still a little on the lanky side. My question is, when do larger dogs start to fill out? I've traditionally had smaller females, and they tended to reach full growth at about a year. Does this hold true for larger male? Thanks for the comments.

I have the same question.
I have a male that is 75# at a year old, a 21'' head and still has a puppy stance and plenty of loose skin on him. (hands full!)
I heard that some bloodline grow faster than others and also that these dogs have several growth spurts until 2 years of age.
My dog is Eddington on top and Mealer at the bottom.
Sire is 100#, dam is 80#.
The thickness has not kicked in just yet, at what age will he start getting thicker?

Dogmen, give your opinions please.

Thank you

He will fully mature between 2 1/2- 3 yrs...but understand this I have had dogs at 107 lbs. at 7 months and end up 110 now at 3 yrs old...so nothing is a gurantee...they all grow differently and just because he is in the 70's now really means nothing,he could end up only 85 or then again could be 105...Mr. Rip was really nothing to write home about at 7 months maybe 80-85 but now at going on 4 yrs he stands at 123 lbs... and he is as solid as they come and a ripped mass!
