I am inqiuring if anyone has ever had any trouble out of their home owners ins over the matter of owning pitbulls how many pitbulls you have on the insured property. They are talking about dropping the policy or regulating how many dogs if any(bully breed)I can have on my property. Can they do this ? Is it legal?

P.S. None of this came about until recently when an ins. inspector came out to my property I also just recently had a dog get loose & get a hold of the neighbors dog(the neighbors dog was just running loose & does so often) it was a total accident I squared things up w/my neighbor, paid the vet bills & no authorities were called, could she have contacted the insurance company ?

The answer to your question is yes. Your neighbors could have sued your Homeowners ins. co. So if you have money hungry neighbors then you could have a problem.

This same incident happened to friend of mine except his dog did not even leave a scratch on the neighbors Boxer that was running loose. My friends kids were walking their dog on a leash might I add.

What I was told is that you have to have them contained in a kennel with a floor and a roof. So when they come to take pictures they will see that your dogs don't have the opportunity to escape and injur another dog or God forbid a neighbor. The Animal Control put my homeboys dog to sleep for that too.

The city has a limit on how many dogs you can have in City Limits. I think it is 6 dogs and a litter in most cities.
