I was wondering if anyone has some real concrete information as to what kind of breeds were bred into pits to create the bully type dogs.
Most of them are real short, lower than 20 inches at the withers.
An English Bulldog would be my guess for example as one of the crosses.
But them bullies can grow pass 100 lbs so there has to be something else larger, any ideas?

LOL...this could be an arguement for weeks on how bully was started.....My opinion? Just like any other bloodlines start. Breed what you like and you get it. You like big dogs....and you breed it...you get it usually. I'm sure staffys were put in there somewhere and maybe something else I dont know...that is just it...I do not know ....and there are only a few that does and they aint tellin cause their dogs are registered as apbt's and if they told then they wouldn't be registered.
I do not care what anyone on this board says....Neo mastiff did not create the color blue in pitbulls.
I'm not saying it wasn't crossed and it isn't dominate in the bully world or other lines, I'm just saying the neo was not the breed that "started" the blue color for the American Pit Bull Terrier.
Do your homework and you will find out everything you want to know about these dogs. The internet is an abundance of knowledge. By the same token....don't believe it just because it is said or posted on the internet. Their is more junk posted that aint true and someone else is selling it as truth than their is facts. But their is enough placed and names and people to find out what you want.
As far as the blue color in apbt's my facts come from a few books and a few dogmen that were around back in the hay day and they threw some blues in color and let me tell you there was absolutely no neo nor any other breed that made it. It happens. Or should I say, "It happened".

Just letting everyone know that I saw that picture of the pig and dog on another site and I thought it would be funny to find someone on here that had a bully dog that everybody knew and to just rib him a little.
It was all in a joking manner and nothing negative behind it what so ever.
Lobo is beautiful and probably one of the best boys around here. I just thought I would put that out there so yall know it was for joking not really taking shots at the bully style for real.

Hey man I've spoke to you a couple of times and seen your since of humor. It was all in fun and I'm sorry to start something out of this...I never would have posted if I thought it would be this crazy.
The plain truth is that I found that picture on another spot on the net and thought it would be funny to say that is how bully was started. I tried to think of who on this board had some bully dogs and you were the only one that I knew of. No negative behind it man, seriously.
