If you own or breed dogs because of what they used to do. Your stupid. If you don't like my opinion then I don't care. It's people like you who are messing up the reputation of this breed. Actually I don't even want to say this breed anymore because it is so seperated because of hate, jealousy, and stupidity.

All yall cry babbies need to grow up and quit belittling each other and getting your rocks off by logging onto a message board to argue....Go find a good tall tree.

To crack on the people just because they like bigger dogs is stupid.
To blame the breeders of these dogs for their reputation is stupid.

If you own a dog because you think it is awesome because they are full of fire and drive then your stupid.

If you breed dogs for gameness or for high drive to sit on a chain then your stupid.

Get real folks, it is the "us" as a people who are going to lose this breed because of all our stupidity. We can't even learn how to disagree. We a complain because someone else is selling more dogs than us or they cheat or they've bred other dogs into it or this or that.....

One of these days I hope yall grow up and realize it is selfish pride that is causing the problems with the breed bannings.

If we cared about the breed as breeders we would make it harder to own one. Besides not everyone needs these kinds of dogs to begin with. If we could unite just for one month...heck...one week, we could all come up with something to make the rest of society happy. Most of us just piss and moan about stupid breeders and young breeders and non weight pullers and anything you can come up with that don't point the finger at yourself.

I once was against the "American Bullies" because I thought they didn't represent the dogs heritage but now I would rather be associated with them then most of the folks that represent this breed. In a nutshell it is greed and jealousy...most don't care about the dogs or how they would like to live their lives....The time for the breed to be bred and stuck on chains is over....if you don't like it then go somewhere where it is accepted. Pride is going to take away everyones pets and it just isn't going to be fair to them or the families.

I've met a lot of good people on here and you know who you are because I've spoke with you on the phone or met you in person or emails. For the most part I've met jealous people who want what someone else has or angry at someone because they can't agree on being different and be respectful about it.

Put it this way, if you own a dog you cant take to a dog park with or strangers can't pet then how is that helping this cause? Train your dog to be a dog not what you think a good "pit" is. These dogs come out loyal,territorial, trustworthy, and very lovable. What they become is your fault.

If you don't care about the breed then just grow up be a man and say I'm in it for the money. Truth be told most people with more than just a few dogs aren't helping no matter what god they believe in or how successful they are. Good dogs need time and attention not chains 20 hours a day.

I respect a lot of you guys out there for what you've accomplished in weight pull but my question is what have you accomplished with the breed? Ask yourself that a few times a week while your thinking about which big or small dog to breed cause you wonder how it will perform for your pride and competition.

I'm not huge in the weight pull world and most know that...but most also know how I raise my dogs and what I do to promote "Good things" so we can keep them. The only reason I wanted to get into the sport of pulling dogs is for the dogs. I understand most of them have a lot of pent up energy due what they are and I wanted to do it for the dogs. Not me. I could care less about trophies on the wall or advertising them as champions to sell puppies...not saying I wouldn't advertise it, I'm just saying I won't due it just to sell dogs. Out of all the champions of the weight pull world, how many were not champions and got stuck on a chain or got given away because they didn't perform well or you didn't like their pedigree?

How about breeding to give people real pets for once. A pet they can trust around kids and strangers.

I believe this is going to be my last post on this board for a while due to the DRAMA it creates.
I don't believe in a system where just any one can log on and express themselves with out exposing who they are.
I would like to thank all of the good folks out there that I've met at shows that gave me the time of day to learn and listen to you.

Don't get me wrong either...Just because you breed dogs different or do things for different reasons, don't think for one second that I do not like you. What I think of people is what they show me. Dogs is not my life and it is okay to disagree about it. We may have other common interests that we can agree on.

Hi, I'm Shawna. I'm Bruce's girlfriend and I wanted to respond because he said he didn't want to and I don't want him to look bad because this "anon" guy took his post the wrong way. We love small dogs and large dogs. He didn't say breeding or owning game dogs are stupid. He pointed out the reason for owning them. We own one and you wouldn't know he was that way unless you looked at his papers. There is a lot of people out there that own or breed the smaller dogs based on their opinions of conformation or taste of what they like. We don't care about all that, it is fine as long as you socialize your dogs. It looks very irresponsible to have your hand wrapped 10 times and two hands holding the leash because your dog will attack others. If you have to put dogs up when company comes over then it look bad, especially if it is a "pit bull" then they tell someone and then they do and etc. By that time the story is all messed up and you have bad dogs.

I just wanted to respond because Bruce said he is done for a while on this board and it makes me mad because he used to have fun on here.

I didn't know what a "pit bull" was until I met Bruce. My family always thought bad things also. He had a dog that was not only the best pit bull I've ever seen, he was the best dog I've ever seen. He didn't have a mean bone in his body. He could take him arond 50 grown dogs and he wouldn't be mean or nothing. My parents have a weenie dog and a little rat terrier and they would attack poor Loco, that was his name, and he would just lay on his back and wiggle around like he was playing. They would bite so hard on his ears that he would be bleeding! He never made one aggressive move the whole time I knew that dog. He came from a man from louisiana that used to fight dogs too. Bruce took him because the man was going to knock all the poor puppies in the head because he couldn't sell them for what he thought they were worth and they were out of his championed dog. So it goes to show you that no matter what environment the dog is in they can be raised to be sociable. He changed not only my opinion, my mom and dad's, my aunts and uncles on both sides and my grandmother! That is what Bruce and now I are doing for this breed. We breed to give these dogs to the people who will put them in an environment to be successfull as dogs. We want to show people what these dogs can be, not what they once were.

first off pit bulls were bred to fight, changing what the breed was bred to do for hundreds of years is calling exstiction of the breed.

i show my dogs in conformation, my dogs DO NOT like other dogs. BUT they hyperventalate with happiness when they see a person... any strangers come to my yard and there nothing but wiggles.

why? because all human aggressive dogs were culled fast.

after people started breeding for size and color the temperment went to crap and they they started ending up on the nrws for attacking people... the public eye is VERY afriad of getting shredded in the streets form a 100 lb loose dog that appears to looks like a "pit bull"

my grandmothers germanshepard/chow is dog aggressive... its a dog thing.

pit bulls were bred to fight for hundreds of years, keep that in mind... and on top of that there is NO human aggressivness tolerated.

if you love the breed you will love it how it is... not as what you want to WARP it to be.

I read your response to Bruce and Shawna and let me say when you make an accusation like"warping" the breed you should make sure your assumption is warranted. I have seen the offspring of the male spoken of, and his ped. and let me say that he is as game as you could get! I used to own an amazing colby female that I could take of the lead and she would obey my every command. Bruce and his fiance' are personal friends of mine and I wil vouch for both their passion for the breed and the quality of their dogs. I agree that dog aggression in inherent in thier nature, but i also believe that proper rearing and attention can change inherent adverse behavior. I aswell am quite passionate about this breed and find some of the posts made poorly thought out and at times downright malicious!
I say if you intend to attack a man, make sure you know what kind of battle you are fighting. Bruce and his fiance' are making a positive impact on the breed. Just a third party view for some perspective.

1st off when you say that the male is as game as they come....i dont think you know what the term "game" means really....for 1 to prove gameness, well theres only 1 way...2nd a dog thats "as game as they come" is deadgame...deadgame dogs well...they're just that...
Let me preface this by saying I kinda see both sides in a way. I raise apbts of the"gamebred" variety...my yard doesnt have a dog much over 40lbs and I like it that way...they are honest bulldogs from a family of bulldogs...true bulldogs are a dying breed...
with that said my house dog is one of those XL apbts some speak of...not huge...85-90in his prime ( he is now 13yrs)... he is a Red Devil/Bordeaux bred dog...nothing fancy...but one helluva dog in his own right...he was as athletic as the lil dogs...had mild dog aggression, mostly to males bigger then him, a great pet...got him 13yrs a go for a couple hundred bucks...
I like the big dogs...I do..they are something that catches the eye...now..I prefer it when they keep some athletic ability..not these super bulked up things, that look like dogue de bordeauxs as pups.. my xl pit in his day could run 5miles with me no prob...alot these days would get winded walking to get the mail..to each their own though...i think theirs room for both...just 2 different worlds..1 think that did bother me was some of the breeding/prices on these XXL dogs...I mean good lord...3,4,5gs for a dog cause it looks cool...maybe Im saying that cause I dont have 3gs to drop on a pup..but that just seems ridiculous to me..I was looking through some sites the other day at pups...the XXL variety as stated my house dog is 13yrs...he isnt long for this world and I would like another big red nose to keep as my house dog, hell I may even try that weight pull thing, it looks like fun...I came across this kennel..looked at the breedings and they had a breeding from 2 good looking dogs, as I read it stated the male was just around a year old...hmmm lil young and unproven but ok...its his dog..then I seen the price...$3500...WOW!! that much for a pup from a 1 year old dog...now im sure someone will buy them...and if you can get that much so be it...but that just kinda turned me off ya know...$3500 for a pup off a pup...ive gotten pups off Chs,Gr Chs and ROMs for a fraction of that...maybe thats the game these days...I mean the parents werent nothing exceptional...they looked like all the other dogs from the XXL sites...no titles or nothing...ah well...I continued to look and noticed the prices were in the 1500 a up range..I did see some that were some less...and some even had titled dogs that asked less...maybe when my ole house dog goes ill just get a Dogue De Bordeaux or something..lord knows I can get um for less anywho...im done rambling...in closing dont throw the term "game" around...most dont know what it means...fewer have ever seen or fed a "game" dog..hell 99% of dogs arent gonna be "game"..prolly feeding my share of curs now ...

I looked into getting a BIG dog and trying him on catch work until I saw what people are asking for their dogs just because they are big. I have been buying and trading dogs for a long time and would shoot myself in the foot before i would pay 1000+ dollars for a pup that has a 50/50 chance of being nothing other than a sh%#t eater. When the fad is over these folks will be giving them away. I am not just talking crap about the big dogs because i think they look awesome, but I personally dont need any 3000 dollar yard ornaments which is what most of these dogs end up being. I also agree on the gameness part. the term is thrown around way to loosely and most have never even seen a true game bulldog.

Though i don't know bruce or his wife, it appears from his comments on this website that he deserves our respect b/c i think he probably does a lot for the apbt breed. From my research i think some of the comments on game dogs is not completely accurate. I agree most game dogs are not aggressive toward humans but there are notable exceptions. I believe the Zebo and Jimmy boots dogs may have been. Yeah i know this is a very small sample. I think even Hammond would agree. Might explain lorenzo line, i don't know. Also top game dog would cost far greater than any pulling large pit. I enjoy this website though i am not a puller. Clearly pulling is what will save the pit bull. I prefer small pit bulls and the original confimations. I will defend pit bulls of any size, color or purpose. I'll stop here before i get political, philosophical and watched.

Dog aggression can be redirected and controlled. Of course you have to be smarter than the dog and understand their nature and drives. Ok so I am the unfortunate receiver for bates herona out of edge and fu man chu. Smokig joe lied to me and sold me this dog stating that he had the papers for the dog. I did see a pedigree but not the actual papers when I picked up the dog.I was making payments on the dogs and when a payment was late he flipped out and said that he was just going to pick the dogs up. I tried to wire the money and he wouldn't accept it. Now I see this posting! He lied to me and tricked me! Don't deal with this man!

First off I fell in love with this breed and im sure alot of owners fell in love with this breeds the same as I did because of there gameness and loyalness to people. I do alot for this breed im a dog trainer and I have game type dogs that are show champions and weightpull champions. and comformation champions also. All my dogs are trained with kids and people along with other dogs. I breed for temperment and confomation! I change alot of people minds about the breed and I tell them its all how you rise and treat them the way the are going to act if you treat them bad alot of times there still good around people and dogs. The dogs im running are redboy/jocko my favorite mix and colby which are my big stock 70-90 pound dogs and eli/gator blood.



I seen alot of american bully shows and the judge look like a person off the streets. what do they judge just head and chest that I see they judge. With big old spike collars and harness on them even them big old toe chains on there neck also tryin to make them look tuff? Ask yourself Bruch Chruch is that good for there rep? Well all my american pitbull terriers are protective on there property/terriory. All dogs are. If you go in my backyard they will attack. But,when I walk them they will lick people to death lol! But, theres a diffence between human aggression and protection of there property/terriory. You see dogs are smarter then people think. They know when people should not be in the backyard. imo people that go in other peoples backyard there up to know good. Dogs need to be protective of there terrory.

You people that say XXL dogs are not athletic are crazy. I just left an NFL combine with mine and he was clocked at a 3.1 in the forty yard dash, he bench pressed 225lbs thirty-nine times, and he did the shuttle run in 2.3 seconds. I was at the combine and the scouts wanted to do it for fun. I'd like to see your gamebred dog do that. They would be "deadathletic" dogs if you tried! What do you have to say to that????

I am, however, respectful of it. Gone hand to hand with a few so I know that a ranger puts his pants on one leg at a time. Now that I think about it we had to score over a certain score on the ASVAB to even enlist. How did you get in? Are you really trying to tell me that you scored high enough, and you didn't know that a dog could not go to an NFL combine let alone Bench Press? Let me clue you in - Dogs don't have hands so they would not be able to grip the bar if they tried to bench press.

It would be ashame for such a decorated war hero to go to jail for a felony dog fighting charge. So if you don't fight dogs, why do you care which one is more "game." Do you not have anything else better to do with your life? You have your whole life ahead of you Mr. Shelton; Forty is not that old. Go learn how to fly a kite, or ride a bicycle, or how to eat without getting food on your shirt, etc. You don't have to dwell on how "bad" you USED TO BE when you were my age. I realize that you probably were pretty awesome when you were my age, and that is why you have to keep "game" dogs now to compensate for what you USED TO BE. It doesn't have to be that way, though, Mr. Shelton. I mean look at the bright side, you are about to start getting AARP literature in the mail. That is something that I can't say. And because you are not quick enough to realize it, I was saying that your Father, Uncle, Brother, were the same people. However, I kinda feel bad about that now. One more thing, and then I am done. Mr. Shelton, I wouldn't advise that you get into any fist fights with your "bad wiring" in your heart. I wouldn't think that that is something you should be doing. Like, what if for some reason we had this mythical fight where I come to Kansas to duke it out with you.....It would probably quit being fun and games when I had to take you to the Chest Pain center. I've been away from the board since January. I can't say that I'm impressed with what I've seen upon returning. Mr. Church's statements are nothing close to what I was accustomed to from him. The military slapfest truely could/should have been done else where, along with the Smoke'n Joe fight.

I have APBTs, currently one male (100 lbs) one female (80 lbs), that have above average ped's for weightpull. I breed them on occasion for hunting hogs and family pets. Initially I wanted to weightpull them, but the cost and time involved vered me away. When my male was six months old, I watched as he took down a 900 lbs steer that had pissed me off by going through a new 6 wire barbed wire fence for the second day in a row. My dog stayed at my side pushing the steer out of the neighbors yard until the steer decided he was going to charge us. I yelled to the dog to put the steer through the fence. The dog never hesitated, lunged after the steer grabbing it by an ear and lead it through the fence back onto my property. Unfortunately for the steer my dog is game, and after stomping, jumping, tripping, and scrambling around for the better part of 20 minutes with my dog hanging from it's tail until it came off, then its throat, the steer collapsed about 20 ft from me. I walked over to them and place my hand in the dogs mouth to release him. He immediately released and stood at my side showing no further aggitation toward the steer, and to this day he will run freely on my property and I have no fear of him killing any of my livestock, pets, or innocent visitors. Mind you, I do not allow free roaming without supervision. I did my homework on the APBT prior to obtaining my first. They can be the most impressive canine you've ever witnessed or they can be your worst nightmare. I have made mistakes during my time with this breed, as anyone who stays with it knows,but the APBT is the thrives on human praise, it will excell at what ever its human praises it for.

Not everone should own APBTs, but the people that do truely need to appriciate what they have and be responsible in all that the do with and for the breed.

Parting thought: Bruce, I respect what you've said and decided. I disagree with some of your statements. Oh, well! I will fight for my dogs as hard and as passionately as I will my guns and my right to stand up and voice or write my opinion.
