Choke and Carb

Hello,
I just finally put a manual Choke on my truck. My carb was riveted together, but a screwdriver and a hammer fixed that:) I really haven't tried it yet, because we are still in the 70's and 80's here and the truck fires right up without it. One nice thing...The truck warm starts faster than before. Electric Choke almost made it impossible to start warm. Anyhow, I am also running Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas... it seems to help. I have a Wisconsin that won't run without it. Burns the #1 exh valve on Unleaded. Anybody ever try this stuff? Still thinking about the Webber. How much would it probably cost me to switch it (carb, fuel regulator, Adaptors, intake, etc)
Thanks all,
Paul

I got a used Webber for $75USD on Ebay. It needs a rebuild kit ($30) and an adaptor plate (make for free I'm guessing). I'm hoping no more than $150USD to do mine.

Weber Adapting

You will not have to modify the intake manifold, the adapter for the weber will bolt everything right up. You will need to regulate the fuel down to about 2 psi, it doesn't need much. Once you get the weber on there you will be able to get rid of a lot of the vacuum crap off to the side of the carb. You will still need some of it for distributor advance and little stuff like that. I weber kit should cost about $200-$300, Mandy offers a discount for the weber for people on this forum.

Hey on my 92 mazda pickup b2200 the choke is a pain in the butt. it always go off when i start it in the winter even if it sat for 5-10 minutes after it has ran! and then i wait for about 2-3 minutes to drop it down. Is it worth getting the manual choke set up, like the kind you can use from inside the cab of the truck? it's only 10 bucks out of jcwhiteny. How do you like yours so far and has anyone else tried it?

Yeah, I like it alot, because My truck runs REALLLLY rich. With this, I can only use it when i really need to , like when I am starting in the -10 weather we have been getting. I got the "Help!" brand at Advance Auto for something like 7 or 8 bucks. You just have to be careful when you install it that you route the cable so that you have enough to connect to the carb.

Dont forget to check that the hotair intake themrmometallic valve is functional, otherwise you engine may not function properly when cold (and when warm).

The manual choke is well worth it. You never have to worry about the stupid thing running right on a cold morning.
