STRAKY fever hit Wewak last weekend, but only some were fortunate to see
their idol.
Fans could not get much of Straky when he performed live at the annual fundraising ball for the Boram hospital at the Windjammer Motel in Wewak on
Saturday night. A great number missed out on watching their idol live on stage when they were turned away at the doors because there was no more room.
Windjammer was packed to capacity in which the hospital raised more than K100,000 towards the upgrading and refurbishment of the maternity wing.
Boram hospital chief executive officer Linda Tamsen said the hospital brought in Straky and the Chin H Min band in its endeavour to raise money.
She said bringing in Straky contributed immensely towards a very good turnout and a successful night
“A lot more people were turned away and some wanted Straky to play at the town markets during the weekend but Boram hospital sponsored him to come to Wewak to help us with the fundraising,” Dr Tamsen said.
“Straky and the Chin H Min band and the presence of prominent people, including the Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare contributed to a successful evening and the raising of much money.”

for doing something constructive. Someone helping to raise money for the people in wewak is really what MY PEOPLE need.
I'm sure the people are as grateful as I am.

Good on you starky. Rasing money to support women who have run down facilities is an extremely generous thing to do. If only people would see the poor conditions our mothers and sisters have to bear with when giving birth, you will appreciate that it's all for a good cause. You may or may not support starky but support the cause.
