HeY OLGETA!

Here are some bands/artists gracing the airwaves in PNG.

'Chris Kasimis' with the song 'Tumbuna man'
'Nahau' from the Mortlock Attols with their song 'Tehine moana'( meaning: Solwara meri)
'Spaqz' From Rabaul with their song 'K.B.C' (accronym for Kokopo Business Collage)
'Sharzy' from Solomon Islands with songs titled 'Buka meri', 'Mi wait', 'Rainy Lae'
'Littol Rastas' also from the Solomon Islands with their song 'Daba' sung in Motu. (Two brothers from this band are of mixed parentage: S.I and PNG)
'Nokondi Nama featuring Chris Kasimis' with the song 'SMILE'
'X-Vibes' wantem singsing 'Brent Bino' which has typical N.G.I melody and msic style.
'Kekene' from the Solomon Islands with the song 'Milomilo' is also another band proving popular!

Overall, it is embarressing that songs from our Pacific wantoks are getting more airplay on our radio stations not to mention are favoured by many of our people. In my opinion, such songs as 'Rainy Lae' by sharzy and 'Milomilo' by kekene sound like they were rushed through the recording process---I don't know why such sucky songs are liked by our people.
Come on PNG artists, we can do better than that, we can beat the 'all-keyboard'/ electronic sounds of Sharzy, kekene and littol rastas. Lets be original and not rely too much on Keyboards. The people deserve quality sounding music that is unique, music which artists and bands have taken the time to plan and record.

As J.K staed in one of his articles in 'Whats on with Rait Man' section of the post courier: Png artists need to be more aggressive in promoting thair music lcally and internationally. Yumi noken sidaun stail na larim ol narapla i go pas, yumi iet mas kirap pastem!

Cheers Malajena

Actually few PNG artists can actually sing like have good vocals, write songs that make musical sense etc etc etc. Thats why a lot of young people do not listen these crap.

They dont write crap songz...

they write fun songz...

dont be stereotypical...

itz normal for the evolution of music to go from bad 2 good....Itz a learning process and there are many variables involved...we need to support and not discriminate! I'm not saying u r not entitled 2 ur views but to support is to move forward...
