no, they arent illegal, theyre just really easy to become illegal.
let me explain, when its hot outside, it softens up your head, and like baking a head, u can mold it. so when its hot out, an evo pro is already very pinched, so when it naturally becomes pinched, ur screwed when the ball wont come out.
i have an evo pro myself, and i have to put either a hockey puck or a tuna can between my sidewalls every night to make sure that its not illegal in the morning

the neck is so pinched that when u string it the sidewall strings BOTH touch the ball, and keep it from falling out when it gets checked. u need to unpinch it to be 100% sure that it wont be called illegal, and once u do it voids the warranty
