The selection of grass as the surface for the Davis Cup final at Melbourne Park should ensure that the Aussies get through against Spain. One has to be wary after the same choice 2 years ago when, with the withdrawal of the talented Aussie hero, Pat Rafter, in the deciding Singles, Australia went down 3 rubbers to 2.Sadly, this meant that Rafter would never get his name on the Davis Cup Trophy which he had so earnestly deserved.Rafter had never lost a set to his final round opponent! However, the Spanish are not as talented as the French on the grass court surface and Lleyton Hewitt and Mark Philippoussis should ensure Australia victory. We also have a decided advantage in the doubles rubber and Todd Woodbridge and Wayne Arthurs should secure the Aussies the vital doubles rubber.Go Aussies! |
