| Just for information....Plumley was a Senior Sgt. Major..and that is an enlisted rank. In your review you noted that he was an officer. Incorrect.
Also..You missed part of the point of the movie. Perhaps it would have helped if you had read the book before seeing it.
It was about what really happened. Condensed or not, it was realistic (except that Gibson said the M-16 was a good gun. At the time it had a 15% failure rate in combat conditions ( I know..I was there). The movie was not meant to be a "feel good" movie. It was made to keep anyone from forgetting not only how terrible war is, but also to remind everyone of what it takes out of men to do this sort of thing.
Two of the real heroes of the story were obviously lost on your review. "Too-Tall" Freeman won the Medal of Honor for flying into danger so often. Bruce Crandall turned down his medals. And Rick Rescola, the man in the movie who, at the end of the battle picked up the bugle, was killed saving others lives as Security Chief in Tower 2 of the Twin Towers. He got all but 6 of the 2700 people out of the area before he lost his life.
