You say the movie "was not a feel-good movie" I agree. I did not get the feeling that the movie was a feel good movie. Quite the contrary. However, it did give me a feeling of comfort knowing that there is a segment of Americans who are capable of doing these things. I'm not one of them.
I love war movies. One of the predominant feelings I always get from watching the good ones is the understanding that war is truly hell and it takes a special kind of man to do what soldiers do. And WWS did a great job of depicting that. I obviously can't comment on its accuracy, but I can comment on my own feelings.
Yes, I did not appropriately recognize the heroes you mention. Were they emphasized in the movie as much as they were in the book? Perhaps I need to read the book and then watch the movie again.
