where model kits were available.  Sims Sports Store had an upstairs room with a small selection of kits, Coles, with their Revell 1/72 bagged kits and their Idea and Otaki kits, and Puckle St Newsagency had a handful, too.  When I was in high school, I had a part-time job at Toyworld in Pratt St, and there was always a good range there.  Once, a lady came in looking for a kit for her son - it was to be his first, and I spent a good 20 minutes with her going through kit choices for the beginner, as well as the basic tools and consumables.  Wonder if he took to modelling?

I still have a few kits bought from PJ's in the late 80's/early 90's - Monogram 1/48 B-24J and P-38, Tamiya 1/48 A-10 and A6M5c, Falcon 1/48 Sea Fury vacform..
