now phased out F117 needed all that hi-tech to keep it in the air. Without it the pilot couldn't do anything. Fly-by-wire or whatever it is called is what is happening now and the more advanced it becomes it is creating a rather different role for the pilot which means that if it fails he cannot do much else but get out.
