Could not add anything to the other thread so starting this new one. Below are examples of ROOK TAIL in 1974. Note embarkation photo shows not all squadron aircraft had same scheme. Probably the ring in was last minute with the CAG aircraft having CAG on tail.

is not correct in AFTERBURNER DECAL example. Correct example shown with a few examples from 1969. AFter that time NO rudders could carry a paint scheme unless it was not time to change rudders for corrosion control. It is getting too late to explain but if people download the 1GB PDF all will be revealed...

Had a think about the rudder for VC 724 'Ramjet' paint scheme. The original rudder for the new build batch of A4Gs was painted dove grey. The indents of the corrugated rudder were painted royal blue whilst the ribs were painted gold (yellow) as indicated in the new graphic below. Relying on memory with only a few photos to look at (without much detail) this is the best I can do.
