Daily Post reported a few days ago a competition to involve woman in poetry.

Very good idea here by Jenny Ligo which i agree very much with it.

As indicated, the best poems would be compiled in to a book let.

Don't you think every poem submitted should be edited and complied in that booklet?? Mi stap ting se evri poem i shud ko blong leftemap moral blong wan woman long community.

Any comments????

I actually don't think this association is discriminatory. This kind of association exists around the world, including other Pacific countries. I reckon it is vital in Vanuatu as it helps to promote the fact that women can achieve higher educational goals just like their male counterparts. It should be seen as a means of promoting formal education...so that our society is more "learned" in the western sense. It doesn't necessarily mean that we shun our traditions etc...no, no, no...it means that women as bearers of the next generation, are able to make informed decisions...something that is oh so important in a developing context such as ours.

You must have heard of the saying: If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.

Well in this situation, VAWG tries to show that if you don't get the niVan Females into schools...well, they'll just contribute to the misinformed decisions that are made daily in the country. Save wanem mi minim???

VAWG i no minim se olgeta we oli skul mo graduate nomo oli saksesful...no! But think about it, yu no wantem mama, sista o dota blo yu blo i skul gud??? I really cannot see anything distasteful about that????

I fully support females being educated as far as they can possibly go...

Spos yu save sapotem VAWG, do so...hemi blo gud blo kaontri blo yumi.

Try some peaceful protests, educational workshops or something that will send a message directly to men... Poetry? Its good for expressing feelings about flowers, nature, etc ... But when it comes to major socio-political issues such as Women's rights! A better means of conveying the message is necessary
