if you did not like the flick fine, but to start on that whole "the movie didnt make to the theatres and was straight to video so it must be crap" stuff well gimme a fucking break because most film critics(I dont know if that includes yourself) seem to fall in love with movies that make $5 at the box office b4 losing money and going to video(ie most of the film fest independant shit).
In summary I would love to watch this movie over some real lame flick from a film festival with 2 cowboys eating pudding(obvious south park ref)

Not sure where you got the quote "the movie didn't make it to the theaters and went straight to video so it must be crap". I think you are trying to attribute it to me but I could not find anywhere that I said this. Hmmm....I think that maybe the opposite is correct with regards to "straight-to-video" movies. "The movie is a piece of crap therefore it went straight to video." Maybe that's more accurate, but truth is...I don't think Boondock Saints is a "piece of crap".
You are correct that quite often the best movies are the ones that don't get the recognition of the popular masses and subsequently the big box office. I do tend to fall in love with the movies that make $5 at the box office before losing money and going to video. Unfortunately, Boondock Saints isn't one of these. As stated in my review, it doesn't have all of the elements of filmmaking that make a movie great. it touches on a few (Willem Dafoe acting, creative method of storytelling) but falls short in most others.

u said it doesnt touch on willam's acting and story telling methods, bud get ur facts straight, willam sat down with troy duffy and pritty much told him a shit load of stuff to do.Sence Troy was a first time director william helped him out,so there is no way he didnt touch on his acting and story telling skills.

It did not make it to any American theaters because of columbine and Clinton's laws on movie violence. However it was played at theaters in other countries. Some scenes had to be edited (removing some violence) in order to drop the rating from NC-17 down to R before it was realeased on video and DVD in America.

I believe Juntaj(I hope that's right) is correct. The movie didn't make it to theatres because of the Columbine shootings, I saw it on a sight somewhere.

The movie was in the theatres for a very short time, but then the Columbine insident occurred and the movie was pulled from theatres because of it's violence. So pretty much the movie came out at the wrong time.
