My opinion is that his/her query was quite fine. He/She had a question; he/she came to a forum for answers.

My advice to this person. Try reading older posts, or asking on a Catholic Forum (no doubt they have one)

The prayer goes as thus...

"And shepherds we shall be, for thee my Lord, for thee. Power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command. We shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine patrie, et fili, et spiritus sancti."

I don't believe someone would ever say it as an actual prayer, also in the movie they said that it was a prayer brought down by their father, and his father before him. So it may have been created by bits and pieces of scripture taken from the bible. Being Irish, and Catholicism deriving from Ireland to begin with, I believe the MacManus brothers were Catholic as well.

Now onto the insults this person received...

Honestly, I wouldn't take any offence by their remarks. People who can rape the english language in such a way should just be ignored, or the network admin could hire a hacker too find where the posts originated from and have the bank foreclose on their house. That would silence them pretty damn fast.

"And Shepherds we shall be
For thee, my Lord, for thee.
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand
Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls shall it ever be.
In Nomeni Patri Et Fili Spiritus Sancti."

This prayer was made up by Troy Duffy the writer/director of BDS

No... that just bad luck Lucy!

Although 10,000 spoons and all you need is a knife might be considered irony...

And that's why you always have options. Like a computer that plays DVDs!

THe prayer, actually originates back to the 15th century, all Irish clans had their own family prayer withe a meaning behind it, the prayer in the movie though was just written and don't mean shit. The crosses they wear are more of a mark of devout Irish Catholics, it is a symbol, like somone will wear a relatives dog tags for respect and honor, or how catholics in general wear crosses

means nothing? Nothing at all? I think you'd find that many will beg to differ. It means alot to fans of the movie, & if it means nothing to you then you aren't a die-hard fan such as myself :D

Like Jos stated if does mean a lot to the "Fans" off the movie.
It has no biblical meaning if you want to go down that route but it does have meaning.

"in nomine patrie, et fili, spiritus sanctum"

isn't part of the made up prayer, It means "in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit" it's the beginning and end to prayers, especially in the catholic religion. I would know, i am Irish Catholic.
