The person who sees no merit in this film, aside from a singular performance by an outstanding actor, really needs a careful introspective look at themselves. Has the corruption and criminal activities of the day-to-day desensitized people into accepting it like some quick and tasteless fast food?
This film's value is in a call to arms against the tyranny and oppression of evil. The film's opening homily by the good Father has a simple message for you. "There is another kind of evil that we must fear most and that is the indifference of good men." It is time to take action to stem the tide of rampant apathy and strike down the wicked "so that which is good may flourish". With much situational comic relief and Rocco's antics added, this is an outstanding movie which can be watched again and again. My children and I can't wait for the sequel, "Boondock II, All Saints Day" to cheer on the McMannus family and their allies. Let's rock!!!

I don't get why this movie is so great. The story and action are just okay. The performances are pretty damn good, but everything thing else is lacking. Seems as if 30 minutes of the moving are missing.
