Hi Jimmy, Family & Fans,
Forgive me for this long post... Just thought I might share my story with you & maybe ask a little favor just incase? ? ?
My name is Lynda, just another devoted fan, enjoying everything I get the chance to see or hear of my passion!
Jimmy! You, your family & your music have been an ‘amazing inspiration’ & enjoyment to me, ‘especially’ in the last 5 years & I am ‘extremely’ excited to finally have tickets to see your show at Newcastle Panthers on July 18. This will be only my 3rd ‘Barnesy’ concert and I’m taking my very best friend, my beautiful 24yr old daughter, Alison, for her 2nd. We are counting down the days now, and I’m like a 49yr old kid waiting on Christmas Day…. BUT ! ! ! As I tell my little story, we are all wondering if I’ll even make it to the show… Bets could be on! ! ! ! ! !
On the 18th December 1985 I was well & truly pregnant, due the 17th, with my third daughter, I’d actually started having contractions at 9am just as I left home to do final xmas shopping. I was living on the Central Coast at the time but after two previous, very long labours, I wasn’t in a rush to go to hospital. I continued on my shopping trip & rang my Mum & Sister in Newcastle to let them know ‘baby’ has started her journey into the world! My sister Maree, only 17 at the time, had been telling me for quite some time that I wasn’t to have the baby on the '18th' because she was going to see 'Jimmy Barnes at Newcastle Workers Club'. My (X)Husband also had a work’s Xmas party to go to, so I was under instructions from him as well……. By 6pm that day I had finished all I had to do, and i knew 'baby' still wasn’t coming out anytime too soon, so I told them to go on to theirs shows… About 11pm I rang my (ex) hubby to tell him it was time to go to hospital. He arrived home ‘rather intoxicated’…so he was put in the back of the ambulance, while I sat up front with the driver as we headed on our 40min drive to Belmont hospital. We couldn’t contact Maree, but knew she would be in no condition to sit through childbirth anyway. When she arrived early next morning she was ‘extremely’ hung-over!!!! Not in any condition to sit thru childbirth. As my labour progressed, Maree got sicker, but she had all ‘my’ nurses caring for her, bowls, washcloths & all!!! She wasn’t able to move from a recliner chair until baby was being born at 3pm. “Instant Hangover Cure”…..Maree’s first words for the day were, “Hullo little Kristy!”. I hadn’t actually decided definitely on baby's name, but I guess Maree sorted that out instantly.
Well that was nearly 23 years ago, and ‘Little Kristy’ is now due to give birth to her own Baby, my 1st grandchild....Sadly Maree & Mum won’t be here in person, they were both taken from us in a car accident in 1997 , but ‘without a doubt’ they’re with us in Spirit. We will always strongly believe they are watching over us, and i have to wonder if they're even maybe sometimes laughing at us!
Maybe this is ‘Maree’s Revenge’. Kristy is now under strict instructions from me & Alison not to have her baby on the 18th July, because we are going to see 'Jimmy Barnes Newcastle Panthers (Workers Club). Jokingly of course, I’ve said that if she goes into labour while I’m at the concert, I will just have to wait to see her next baby’s birth, I’m sure she’ll have more! Plus my eldest daughter Lisa is due to have her first baby Nov 6, so I’ll try & drop in on her!
(Just another spooky thing!... My Mum’s birthday is the 17th July & Lisa's baby is due on the anniversary of my Mum’s sisters passing 3yrs ago(Nov6). Lisa's b'day is on the anniversary of my grandfathers passing & Alison's b'day is on his birthday (Nov3). Kristy's b'day is the '19th'of the month as also is 3 of my Mum's sisters. Also my son's birthday is on the anniversary of my great-grandfather's passing......Don't like my Chance???
Well Jimmy! This is where I’d like to ask that little Favor????????
If baby does decide to venture into the world this night, would it be possible maybe? if somehow? you could be contacted personally? on stage? ‘Between songs of course!!!’ to let me know when it’s time to leave for the hospital to become a Grandma
I seriously don't want to miss this night.Im also so looking forward to hearing Mahalia sing live after all I’ve heard & read; and at least some of your show, especially the new songs!
Love ‘Out in the Blue’ album, & your new Book, it’s absolutely F*****G awesome! Best pressie I ever got for mothers day, except for my son of course, born day after mothers day 1988.
By the way! Kristy still hasn’t decided on a boy’s name for the baby, so there could be a chance it might end up being ‘Jimmy' (or any other suggestions would be nice???) Also, one more thing! Will there be much ‘Baby merchandise’ at the show? Maybe I could get something signed for the 2 new Bubs, to start them off with some great memories? I’ll fill them in when they’re old enough!!! I'll teach them to read with your books!
Thanks Jimmy! Bring on the ‘18th’. See Ya Then! ! ! I’m Hangin! ! !
PS: I’d also like to say a huge thanks, to all the people who post messages on this forum, ‘For feeding my Passion’ You are all wonderful and sounds like you have so much fun! I envy you all!
Wombie! You’re always good for a laugh & to cheer people up!!!! Love your posts, especially your spelling! ! ! And Mikey! What would we do without you???
Take Care All & Enjoy!!!Maybe Alison & myself could meet some of you on this special night? If we make it?
Great story, but for such an important event in both yours & your 1st granchild's life, & daughters life, imagining how busy Jimmy would be on the night also, I would put my mobile on (silent/vibrate) & have it close to my heart & when i got the news to hightail it to the hospital. I know when I got that call, in my case it was early morning, & I left immediately did the 20min drive and missed the event by minutes. hopefully for you, the birth will NOT be during your Jimmy time.
but hey........good luck with plan a....you never know!!!!!!!!!!!
I wouldn't miss the birth for the world.... well I truly hope I don't! This is the most exciting moment since having my 1st, even more I think!. They are my world, they are the reason behind every breath I take.
It would be a fantasy come true for Jimmy to announce it for me at the show if it happened! But i wouldn't really count on it!
And i don't really want it to happen, cause i don't want to have to miss either. I have my, fully charged, new 'U Beaut', mobilephone/5mpcamera/mp3/e-mail/everything except the kitchen sink!, with me everywhere I go now. It'll be strapped to my hand on the night, hopefully taking many great pics for the 'Baby Albums'. And Alison's will too!... And we have a really fast car to get to the hospital!... lol, Only Kidding!!!
'Speed Kills!' it's never worth it,no excuses!
So does 'Drink Driving!' and 'Wet Slippery Roads!' We know!
I think we'll be counting down the hours tomorrow! ! ! We're excited!!
Hi Lynda
How exciting for you. Two great things in one night. What I discovered last night is they have baby clothes now. Litle red and white stripped tshirts that say Jimmy Barnes. Sizes 000 to 3. Got a tshirt signed last night for a a 5 year old who loves Jimmy and knows all his new album. Is telling people I love Jimmy Barnes. A bit young to understand the meaning of a autograph. Got the tshirt signed and this morning has said why did Jimmy write on my tshirt. That was funny.
Bye Sharon
Thanks Sharon,
I did read that there was some baby stuff but not sure of what. I'll definitely have to get 2 or maybe 3little shirts. The way babies are coming all of a sudden, i might need a 3rd one.
I'm sure my new little one's first words will probably be the words to his songs, that's mostly all that ever plays in my car.
How cute for your little one, you must have had a good laugh. Hope you explained to him/her that only 'special' people are allowed to write on clothes???
My sister gave all my kids a t-shirt when they were little, with "If you think i'm cute you should see my Aunty" Think i'll have to get some & change 'Aunty' to 'Jimmy Barnes'
Cheers! thanks again, Lynda
PS: Would you know where abouts & the best time, at Panthers, i would go to hopefully get them signed? I'm rather shy when it comes to that sort of thing. I think i'd faint if i got to meet Jimmy, wouldn't know what to say, but i'll give it a try.

Hi Lynda
I am from Vic. Is Panthers N.S.W.? Love the idea, aunty to Jimmy Barnes. Wonder if they would do them in adult sizes?. It is my friends 5 year old daugher that loves Jimmy.Have a 2 month old nephew and 2 year old niece that will be wearing those tshirts. Already teaching 2 year old to say Jimmy. She has said it a few times. Got to bring all these young ones into liking the greatest. Good luck.
Bye Sharon

Hi Sharon! Yes, Panthers is in heart of Newcastle 2hrs north of Sydney. I actually think 'The Star Hotel' was across the road from N'cle Panthers (formerly Newcastle Workers Club) or there abouts. Many people still like to call it The Workers Club!
Will keep my eye on Jackie! and anyone else i think i might have a chance with. It would be worth it i'm sure!
Thanx for the info. I'll give it my best shot.
