We were so lucky. Beautiful typical Canterbury balmy evening. Still only in tshirt at 10pm at night. I wasn't familiar at all with the first performer, but they were ok. The Feelers - just awesome, I have always loved their music, but will definitely be rushing out now to get their CD. Considering how popular the Feelers are, I was surprised at how quiet the crowd were. Someone mentioned that to me, and I said you wait - Jimmy will interact with the crowd and get them going, and yup....LOL. The sound of the whole event was distorted at times, i think due to the wind.
Jimmy came on and the crowd got going. We were down the back and he was only a speck in the distance lol, but that didn't matter. I thought the stage was awesome, the lighting looked brilliant. Was a good mixture of the songs we know and love and his more recent ones. Don't ask me for a set list....the memory never serves me well, but off the top of my head and there will be some i have missed, and in no particular order:
Choir Girl
Khe Sanh
Driving Wheels
Second Prize
Working Class Man
I'd die to be with you tonight
Out in the Blue
When two hearts collide
Resurrection Shuffle
Flame Trees
When the War is over
Lover Lover
Ride the Night Away
Good Times
I'm still on your Side
I know there were others, but that will kind of give you and idea.
It was great to see Merchandise for sale. The times I have been to pub venues here there has never been any for sale. So, I did treat myself to a T-shirt. Jimmy I have to say the T-towels were pretty cool and kind of took me by surprise.....but seriously, do you think I would dry the dishes with it???LOL
Anyway, Jimmy, we hope to see you again down this way in another year or so?? All the best with the rest of the "A Day on the Green" series in New Zealand, what a treat. I'm hoping I might get a double-dose this year, when we visit Australia later on in the year. Who knows...in the past we have timed our Gold Coast Holiday perfectly with your Gig at Twin Towns.
Sorry Mikey, no can do. They were at the "A day on the Green" last night, and I won't get to another one. They were white with the black picture on it, I think (could be wrong) the same pic as is on the T-shirt, which is the one on the front of the Australian Icon Book. They were selling them for NZD $15.
Maybe if there are any other Kiwis reading this and they are going to the later gigs, someone could take a pic??
Hi
I want Australia to have Jimmy t-towels. Would never dry dishes with it. Just sit on my oven door, for everyone(ME) to see haha. They would sell like hot cakes.
Bye Sharon
We just this moment walked in the door.....a lovely drive home this afternoon.
There were moments last night when I was sitting there, looking up at the stars, listening to Jimmy, thinking to myself, does it get any better than this??! The day could not have been better than it was......a little breeze towards the end of the night, but the weather was just perfect.
We grabbed a T-Shirt and the tee-towel - there were 3 different tee towels....all with the same picture. When I unpack my bags, I'll take a picture and post it here.
Also, I hope it turned out, but sometime in the next week or so, we should have a copy of the show up for y'all to listen to. We were up near the front, and the sound was pretty darn awesome. I'll have an exact setlist later too - one of my faves (I LOVE Heat) was played last night - Wheels in Motion. It just set me on fire!! :D
My husband also managed to get one of the setlists for me after the show too - so it will be interesting to see how close it is to what was actually played.
All I can say is, Jimmy never fails to let me down. He is still the rocker that he always was, and I feel as though nothing in this world matters when I'm at a concert of his.....and last night was particularly special I felt.
I don't know that my photos turned out all that great, but will pop some up here if there are any good from those too - I think my flash was on the blink, so I'm not holding my breath.
Keep an eye out for the download of the show (I'm keeping everything crossed that it worked out ok), and also we have the small interview from Close Up too (it was just a 5 minuted interview).
Thanks Jimmy and co for an astounding show as always. You always give me the high that I need, to keep on trucking on.
As with others, this ain't going to get any use of course LOL.
I wish it was last night still......I'm still feeling the music in my head and heart.....I just love the atmosphere at concerts.....feeling the music is an experience quite unlike anything else. The sound was cranked up and was just brilliant amazing awesome!
