In my humble opinion, some of the most under-rated Cold Chisel songs are:

Taipan, Tomorrow and Letter to Alan. Three songs that absolutely rock !

I'd be interested to hear any other fan views.

Does anyone know the meaning behind 'Taipan' by any chance?

Cheers,
Rob

I know a taipan is a snake, but other than that i don't kow what the song is about!

Is Letter to Alan underrated? it's definitely one of my favourite tracks.

What about some of the tracks on the first album - Juliet, Just How Many Times, Daskerzine...?

Or Dresden from Breakfast at Sweethearts?

Numbers Fall and Too Good For You from Circus Animals

And from 20th century, Sing to Me

Daskarzine

June 30 2009, 12:51 AM

Daskarzine
Great vocals and this song live made the hair on the back of your neck stand up
This song rocks and rolls big time and lifts the pace of a live show

Well Daskarzine, she was pretty bland
As she stretched out in the corner of the room
She was Oh! so lazy with her pistol hand
As her hair hung hot off the loom
A red-eyed Chicken felt like stepping in
But his lines lacked their customary cool
Her conversation flowed like treacle from a tin
And Chicken felt like some kind of fool

Oh Yeah!
Her every move
Is a lesson in street ballet
And they speak her name in cheap hotels
From Turkey to Marseillaise

Seduction seems to hang in the dressing-room air
But no-one knows just who's seducing who
She puts it out wave after wave
And never seems to miss the slightest cue
Outside in the wings
The curtain-boys cry lonely
Their one true love is Daskarzine
And for her they'll all die slowly

Oh babe, she says, we've got to die sometime
It's the sweetest thing we do
Why not die from month to month
With my touch to help you through

Now Chicken left the room feeling angry and cold
Young Stetson looked reluctant and lame
Daskarzine had him neatly pidgeonholed
And he was just clinging blindly to his name

I'm Stetson and I ain't so bad, he kept on saying
But his mind was trapped in some kind of cage
He had failed at the ancient art of role-playing
And was fighting to leave the bleeding stage

On the radio
A tenor saxaphone
Cries sweet jazz poetry
And it breaks on Daskarzine's facade
Of false serenity

Plaza hotel.Angel in my room,Thing i luv in you , One long day and Saturday Night always feature on my ipod "Almost Chisel Greatest Hits" One long Day is one of my alltime favourite lyrics and i always like the chisel songs wher jimmy and mossy share vocals, mossy building up the song and jimmy giving the killer vocal overdrive to finish......

'Showtime' and 'The Door', awesome songs that don't get much attention. The band played 'The Door' live and was a featured part of their set for a long time...

in my part of the world everything from Cold Chisel is criminally underrated but with my computer turned upside down I shall try to type:

once around the sun, this time around, big old car, smalltown motel blues, it will always been you, better time better place.

Hi

Just thought I'd put my two cents worth in and give 'Notion for You' and 'No Good For You' a mention. Jimmy sang Notion for You at The Day on the Green this year, and it's had a thrashing on my ipod ever since.

Can't wait for August 15.

Hi dk

Jimmy sang Notion for You at the Day on the Green in the Clare Valley (SA). I had a bit too much to drink, but clearly remember the song about the secretary (that's what I do for a living), so since then, Notion for You has been known as the 'Secretary Song'.

Only 24 more sleeps until Jimmy's at the Gov!!!!!
