Jimmy can keep doing what he's doing, making great albums and killing it on stage.
No need to judge a bunch of clowns that call themselves Australian idols... theres only one Australian Idol, and his name is Jimmy Barnes!!!!
Well if you look at it my point of veiw people Jimmy does do TV series he also does the radio sometimes and he still fits in the most awesome concerts and writes fantastic music. I don't think it would cheapen his reputation of what he has been through I agree Jimmy is the best of all time and with him be on oz idol he will say it the way it is and not beat around the bush. Plus with Jimmy knowledge and skills. Look Jimmy is the person where he has achived everything that he could ask for and look at his children. Jimmy and Jane has done a great job to teach them into the music career also brought them up well
That's my point of view.. you WILL NOT GET ANYONE BETTER to judge the australian idol then Jimmy Barnes

that is true but Jimmy did tought them about the music and plus it was a great so and did buy there CD andit was great to see Jimmy pass on his skill and knowledge wasn't it
I personally would not like Jimmy to be an idol judge , or do any judging .
It doesnt appear to be in his nature, or best interests to critique, or can anybody , dismiss, eliminate or want to X off anybody. Its like the execs of record companies, culling musicians, etc . Jim, I think would much rather always be accessible , door is open, encourage, be positive and caring and sharing , as shown by his love of duet-ing .
But sure enough, if everybody said NO he wouldnt and couldnt , he would be just as likely to throw caution to wind and do it, to spite opinion. Isnt that part of obsessive compulsive disorder.. ha ha ha
But after the great initiation of appearances in The Know and creating the First Gig I think with the Idol suggestion , he would cop criticism, and be branded. what would he know hes a screamer .. blah blah (from usual idiots we all hate)
Jimmy doesnt need it , and luckily will be way too busy ..,
(a) the new rhythm and blues album promotions,
(b) a new tour ,and is it maybe a 2nd tour with the actual recording legendary musicians.
(c) New album again the re-hashed stripped back , re-released Soul deep record .using original sounds and instruments without the 1990s touch ups
(d) and of course , the power of work on the new Rock album ..which is absolutely brilliant he is writing with Jonathon Cain again Yee Haa. And if some of the stuff is not suitable for Jims album , a couple might be great on the Living Loud MK2 s next one ..
Gotta keep trying . hey ..!!! psssfffft..

No to Barnesy as an Idols judge!

I think it would not be right for JB to be an idols judge. Look at how he achieved his success, forming a band as a teenager, playing in grubby clubs, eventually swapping the covers for original material. That is how superstars, the real legends, are made. Not by getting overnight success through a talent show, then getting a record contract to do covers or originals written by someone else.
How many of these idol wannabee winners will go on to something great? Hasn't anyone noticed the lack of superstars produced (or even legendary bands) in the modern era. Whether you like their music or not, people like Bon Jovi, Elton John, Bryan Adams, Joe Cocker etc, guys with tonnes of original material spanning decades, are all products of past generations. When, and how, will the current generation step up? Surely not through manufactured rubbish talent shows like Idol.
