Oh man. If youre a fan of classic Aussie rock, live in Sydney ...... Every Friday night in September, starting on September 4, there will be a live performance from Aussie rock Gods. On September 4, Hoodoo Gurus take the stage; September 18 sees Mental as Anything take the stage and September 25 will be Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss and Diesel playing together in one mind-blowing classic rock show. Well, it will be if they do Khe Sahn
Therell also be a show on September 11, but at the moment the artist is still to be announced.
The best part about the whole thing is that the shows are completely free. Theyre also on a first in, first served basis, which means youll want to get there well before the 9pm start time.
Isnīt anyone else just a little tired of khe sanh? I am...its been so over used for everything from cricket to those idiot Cronulla rioters a few years ago. Its just a great, simple, sad song about a guy who went to a wrong war - not some patriotic flag-waving thing that people have made it out to be.
I hope they play Mr Crown Prosecutor or Standing On The Outside instead!

You're not the only one a bit tired of Khe Sanh. Sure it's a great song but it's been done to death i think, and should only be bought out on special occasions! There's heaps of old Chisel songs far better but less well known. Thankfully during the concerts in the Round a few years ago, the band played a lot of the lesser known songs from their albums. I remember at the Hordern Pavilion shows, once Khe Sanh came on we knew it was the last song in the first set, so we took off and headed straight to the bar before the rest of the crowd got the same idea. So i suppose it's good to have this song in the set at times!
I only hope that Steve Prestwich does a couple of songs on vocals with the new show(s). Steve's a great singer/songwriter/performer and was getting around for a while with the Steve Prestwich Band doing a few shows here and there. There's a great DVD getting around called Steve Prestwich Roll With The Rythmn - Live at the Basement. As part of his band were Kara Grainger and Jenny Marie Lang. Great musicians, if you get a cahnce to see any of their shows do it. And don't forget Steve's solo album, Since You've Been Gone. No Chisel fan should be without one!!!
BORING!!! Steven and Don singing in Ringside was soooo slow and boring, Snooze fest,
Please lets keep the Cold Chisel Party mood going, Khe Sahn is brilliant and I speak
for thousands and thousands of people that would be disappointed if Khe Sanh isn't
played on the night.
Hi
Jimmy played Friday night in Melb. Khe Sanh was one song that the whole crowd stood and danced too, plus sing. Was so loud and great. It is the best song ever. We expect that song at every concert.
Bye Sharon

Each to their own i suppose. There's a lot more to Chisel than just Barnes and Khe Sanh, a fact that seems lost to some. If you found parts of the Chisel show boring, maybe you should just stick to seeing Jim's shows in future. As for me, Khe Sanh's been flogged to death.
Yes I found parts of the Ringside show boring, at the Last Wave Of Summer Tour and
the Last Stand, I wasn't bored at all.
This is the Jimmy Barnes messageboard and not a Cold Chisel messageboard so you do
have to expect a bit more favoritism toward Jimmy.
"There's a lot more to Chisel than just Barnes and Khe Sanh" Of cause there is Peter
and everyone knows that, but just because people like Khe Sanh doesn't mean they don't
like the other songs, and just because people like Jimmy doesn't mean they don't like
the other band members.
If you don't like Khe Sanh maybe YOU should stop going to the shows.
Circus Animlas tracks would be a great fit for an event based around a V8 race. I will stick up for Steve - at Ringside, the song stuck in my head was Lovelight. Humming (and singing as much as I could remember) for ages afterwards. But, maybe not a good fit for this particular event, bring on all the High-Octane Chisel!
I would much prefer to listen to Khe Sahn all day if I had to rather than listen to half the modern/new age crap on the airwaves.
Anything Jimmy sings sounds good, so that includes the Chisel era.
There would be no other performer that can get away with singing slow ballads like Flame Trees, Water into Wine, Four Walls and Out in the Blue. Then through to the Soul from the South, then to the heavier rock like Khe Sahn, You Got Nothing I Want etc.
If Jimmy recorded Baa Baa Black Sheep it would sound great and be a hit.
To grow up in this era we are blessed, as this music will never die.
Khe Sanh is good, but yeah I feel its been done to death too, and misused, and its annoying that some people only associate Chisel with Khe Sanh (Im not talking about fans but just the general public I suppose).
Does anyone know how long the set at v8s will be? 1 or 2 hours?
It's only early days, but if Jimmy has his way it would go for 2 1/2 hours+
There's not many of their songs they could leave out of the set list.
They would want 20-25 songs.Name the ones you would leave out. Janelle is one for sure.
Let's start our own set list and see how close we go to what they decide.
