Jeez, it just took me 3 minutes to find the bloody question mark on this brazilian keyboard!
Im just gonna ask this question again: Does anyone know if the v8 supercars thing will sell-out soon or, in fact, at all?
Regards
Lorry

I couldn't see the actual V8 event selling out , as the olympic precinct will hold 200,000 plus, but the Chisel concert I just don't know how they are going to manage the numbers because if everyone that buys a V8 ticket wants to see Chisel we are in trouble, that's more than twice the capacity of ANZ Stadium.
What are the chances of 15,000 cap being reached for Chisel soon?
I wasnt at the 1998 shows, but the ringside shows were significantly smaller than 15,000 I would say. Im trying to organise to go with a few mates...
just wondering how big a crowd chisel could pull these days. as a matter of interest, what was the biggest 1998 tour crowd size?
Lorry
after reading Banshees response yesterday I was worried. But after reading the link I had already purchased tickets in the Diamond Grandstand 11 and if you have Diamond, Platinum or Gold tickets you get reserved VIP areas, either standing area in front of the stage or seating in stands closest to the stage area, so I'm cheering, that's a nice bonus I didn't expect.
I still don't know how it will work, because if every Dia,Plat,Gold ticket holder goes to the concert that would take a big chunk of the 22,000 and that would mean some GA tickets holders would miss out.
I think there will be a riot on the day if people who have bought GA day tickets just for the concert can't get in.
Hopefully I'm wrong, and there is room for all us Barnesy/Chisel die hards.
You can't compear Ringside to this, Ringside was performed
in smaller venues as they wanted a more intimate setting, like a
boxing match hence the name Ringside, I don't think any of the
venues actually had the capacity to hold 15,000.
They sold out 4 nights at Melbourne's 'Festival Hall' and they Sold
Out 6 shows at the 'Hordern Pavilion' in Sydney.
'Last Wave Of Summer' Tour they sold out 4 nights at the 'Rod Laver Arena'
I will be scaling the fences if they dont let me in!!
Ive just bought a saturday only ticket, cos im flying from perth and need to be back on a plane on sunday!!
V8 supercars better manage this properly or there will be alot of upset people!!
Hi Jenko, just curious as to the link that you are talking about? Ticketek said that if you purchase a ticket for saturday it includes the concert and its first in best dressed in the stadium. spoke to about 5 people on separate days and they all said the same thing.
people travelling from far and wide - mummy's getting hubbies to watch the kids for the weekend - flights, accommodation, tix - let's hope it is not a disappointment:)
Hey Mr 3daygrowth - are you unable to purchase a ticket from where you are? did you want me to get you a ticket?? I'm pretty sure we are in the same state. My email is margco@optusnet.com.au
cheers marg
chisel4eva
cried for days when they split (shhh i was a very young teenager and melb just wasnt the same without seeing them perform live - Australia wasn't the same!!!)
i was thinking ,what about if all the people who buy a 3 day general admission tickets decide to go to the concert as well?.if they are only selling 15,000 ga for saturday, does that mean that there is only 7,000 (gold, silver, diamond etc grandstand seats for sale?)if everybody who buys 3 day ga,plus 15,000 sat ga and the grandstand seated people decide to go surely thats more than 22,000.? i wonder what time the stadium opens?.i hope the v8 people sort this out.
so by purchasing a ticket we are not guarenteed to see what we have bought the ticket to see? if so it should be advertised that you agree that when you purchase this ticket, you may or may not see what you have paid for? this can,t be true.i hope im wrong.they have promised us all that by buying a ticket we will see cold chisel.
If I am reading it right Diamond, Platinum and Gold ticket holders get allocated areas including what they are calling the "HOT ZONE" right in front of the stage, so GA day ticket holders can not get near the front of the stage.
For people that only bought GA Saturday tickets to see the concert, they may not even get in,which on the surface sounds really unfair, but it must be remembered that we are buying tickets for a V8 Supercar event, not a Cold Chisel concert.
I look forward to comments on this as they are expecting 150,000+ over the 3 days, so 22,000 doesn't sound good for the GA tickets.
TICKETING INFORMATION FOR THE CONCERTS
Diamond, Platinum and Corporate Ticket Holders: There will be a VIP section on the Arena directly in front of the stage (Hot Zone), this will be standing .
General Admission Ticket Holders: The rest of oval will be General Admission standing and available to all other ticket holders. Please note that there will be a 15,000 cap on Saturday only for General Admission tickets sold so that the total on the oval does not exceed 22,000.
Seating: Certain bays will be allocated depending on the type of event ticket held. The bays closest to the stage will be allocated to Diamond, Platinum and Corporate Ticket Holders followed by Gold and Silver and the remaining will be for General Admission ticket holders. General Admission seating will be based on a first come first serve basis.
Please Note:
Specific information on exact bays (including map) will be released closer to the event.
Patrons cannot reserve specific seats for the concert or request specific bays. It is recommended that patrons purchase a Diamond Grandstand Ticket for the event if they want the best seat/hot zone for the concert.
re: Jenko you stated, ..."For people that only bought GA Saturday tickets to see the concert, they may not even get in,which on the surface sounds really unfair, but it must be remembered that we are buying tickets for a V8 Supercar event, not a Cold Chisel concert."
..."V8", what, where, I DON'T THINK SO!!!
IT'S COLD CHISEL - ...um yes, I did buy my ticket just to see Chisel!!!
we can all hope that we get the best position and that it's all fair on the day - first in best dressed.
..."hmmm, let's see, cars or CHISEL"
An Absolute dream come true to see them play again!!!!!

will v8s sell out
September 16 2009, 9:22 PM
From the V8 Supercars website:
"Providing excellent value for money the Friday and Saturday night concerts are included in the price of a Sydney Telstra 500 day ticket. Friday event tickets start from $48.00, and Saturday from $76.00, and include a full day of diverse on-track entertainment, championship V8 Supercar racing, entry to night concerts and free public transport to and from the event."
They do have to provide the goods or services they sell and that clearly includes "entry to night concerts", not "a chance of getting into the arena for the concerts if it's not already full, first come best dressed".
I'd anticipate a riot (seriously) if a lot of people with tickets bought to specifically see Chisel can't get in.
They also say they expect 150,000 over the 3 days so 50,000 per day which should get in.
Hey Shawodblue
your right in what you say, they are promotting it as buy a ticket and see the concert, so there will be riots. There is no way 22,000 is a big enough venue for Chisel after so many years and Barnesy performing better than he has in his entire career.
My advise to Mr Cochrane switch it to ANZ Stadium and it will be a good dress rehersal for AC-DC in February. Chisel will fill the place to the rafters for sure.
also, nearly everyone will be carrying video cameras and photo cameras to the event, will they be allowed into the stadium?what if you get to the stadium and they say no recording devices allowed,i can,t see that happening,i hope not?
Well hopefully they have something on ticketec site when the capacity is sold for general admission tickets. I am also flying over from perth and will be extremely upset if not allowed in to Chisel!! Fingers crossed!!!
Banshees - if camera's are not allowed, that issue wil be resolved at gates. Every bag gets searched entering ANZ, at all events ranging from small club games to capacity crowd State of Origin & Grand Final. Usually video cameras are not allowed, nor are camera's with HUGE lenses or on tripods........but you will have to check with the organisers/and or the venue closer to the event date. I can't help you with any further info, I will only be told at the briefing on the day.
with the help of Juddster I think we have it worked out.
GA day tickets will only get you onto the oval grass area (15,000 GA day tickets and 7,000 in the VIP area = total capacity 22,000 on the oval), but still behind the reserved VIP "Hot Zone" which is directly in front of the stage (the mosh pit) and certain bays of the grandstand areas.
The best viewing bays in the granstands will be allocated for Diamond,Platinum and corporate ticket holders then the next best to Gold and silver ticket holders, then the remaining for GA tickets.
My suggestion would be to spend the extra and get Platinum tickets and you are guarenteed either a seat or it is the only way to get close to the front of the stage in the VIP hot zone.
All Diamond tickets are sold out, they went within a couple of days of the annoucement. So Platinum or Corporate is the remaining options for people that want to get right in front of the stage.
I'm glad I had inside info on the concert happening and bought diamond tickets early before the announcement as I knew it would sent ticket sales crazy.

Don't forget too that kids 12 and under are free (after redeeming a voucher in the paper).
I'm coming along with 2 of my kids. So I assumed they capped the numbers to allow for kids as well.
hello juddster,do you think my tiny olympus digital camera will be allowed, you know the small ones, just regular camera?it was ok at ringside.as i said every motorsport meeting ive been to most people have some sort of cammera.there may be a lot of cameras left at the entry points i guess.camera or chisel, camera in bin.
Banshee - read the last sentence of my last post mate!.....and don't take any notice of what I "helped" sort out re seating, I asked not to be quoted on that as it was just an educated guess.
Thanks for all the help guys, especially the person who said they'd buy me tix. Thanks for the offer, but Im back in Australia now so I'll get myself a ticket when a work out which one of shitty dot.com generation friends I can drag along!
In regards to the chisel 'official' website, well that's to be expected and is totally predictable. Remember the Chisel forum: temporarily out of action for years now hmmm...
And you wouldnt even know that chisel are planning to release the LWOS DVD some time soon too (finally!)...
it must be the worst official website of any great band. nothing posted since 2008. useless...
Whatever they play I am sure we will all be happy (well those that get to see it)
Personally, given the nature of the event, I would love to hear all the Chisel ROCK songs. High octane stuff for a high octane crowd. I am gunna start a new thread soon about "Choose your setlists" - something to keep us all occupied until the BIG Night!
Juddster
the hardest part about choosing the setlist is not what to put in, it's going to be what they have to leave OUT, as nearly all their songs became big hits.
They can leave Janelle out, it is about the only song I don't really enjoy listening to.
