Hi Guys

how many JB originals have been covered by other artists. I only know of two:

I'm Still On Your side - Jamie Walters (from the short lived TV series The Heights)
Working Class Man - Redgum / ??? Dalton(cant remember her first name)

Although WCM is not a JB penned song he did make it his own

Also from the TV series The Heights, a Diesel penned track: Rear View Mirror. Does anyone know if Diesel ever released this as one of his own.

Cheers!!!

covers

there's a few US country covers of Working Class Man - can't remember the singers though!

And of course the Cold Chisel tribute album had a few covers of JB penned songs.

but there does seem to be a lack of Jimmy covers. I always thought a dance artist might sample him one day but it never seemed to happen!

I've got The Heights album and it certainly is a curiosity! I really like the Rear View Mirror song though. maybe Diesel used it as a b-side at some point?

Lacy J. Dalton covered "Working Class Man" in 1986, top 20 on the US country charts. Also appears on her "Best of" 2005.

Great point of discussion by the way, will be interested to see if any others come to light.

There's a cover version of waiting for the heartache done by Jennifer Rush .....

Maybe Running for the red light by Meat Loaf could also be named as a cover version.

and yep Rear view mirror ist the b-side of the aussie tip of my tongue cd-s

cheers Ralf

one more here...

Walk On, written (but never released) by Joe Lynn Turner, among others. JLT re-recorded and officially released his version on the new Sunstorm album House of Dreams. I guess that sort of counts...

Hi guys,

It is JB covers as in "original JB songs" covered by other artists not song titles with the same name.

I notice that The Delltones released two Cold Chisel/JB songs:

Forever Now
Stone cold

Shannon Noll also covered WCM as a B-side of one of his singles, I think it was Drive.

Ralph, Cheers for the Diesel track. Much apreciated!!

why do you think there are so few Barnesy cover versions?

maybe because his voice is so unique, its such a part of the song, that they would song weird sung by someone else??

but many of his songs are very well written, strong pop songs... so some enterprising young singer should raid his back catalog!

A Dutch artist called Rene Froger also covered Still On Your Side in 1991
